Recently voted by Golf World as England’s 72nd Best Course, Crowborough Beacon is a very special place that entices visitors to return time after time.
Established in 1895, the course’s rugged beauty has been enhanced by famed architects, including Augusta’s Dr Alister MacKenzie, to become one of the South’s premier heathland layouts. The 18-hole course stands 800ft above sea level, which offers spectacular views over the Weald to the South Downs and the English Channel.
The course, at 6,319 yards, has many great holes and is considered challenging. For those who require an easier option, there is the 5,039 yard Conan Doyle course – named after Sir Arthur, the creator of Sherlock Holmes, who was a former captain of the club.
Visiting societies and corporate guests enjoy the personal attention given by the club’s team of meeters and greeters, who are there to ensure that your day runs smoothly from beginning to end. They will provide scorecards and nearest the pin and longest drive markers, as well as acting as a starter on the first tee. The club also enjoys an enviable reputation for the quality of its catering.
Your visit will be complete when, with a glass of local ale or a wine in hand, you sit on the terrace and look out on one of the finest panoramic views in England.
