Winning Golf Strategies Original Idea and Concept Frank Schwager - St. Louis, MO
Written By Bryan G. Edwards - Richmond, VA
Golf is one of the most interesting, intriguing, fun, and certainly frustrating games on the planet Earth. I can’t think of any game that allows anyone at any age, the opportunity to play it, regardless of size, weight, strength, and physical abilities. Don’t get me wrong however! There are many people that play this great game that have absolutely no business on the golf course. I have, and am quite certain that you as well, have personal testimony as to why certain people should never be allowed to enter the “Hallowed Grounds” of our beloved greenery. The first rules of golf were a code of 13 rules written in 1744 by the Honorable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. In 1754 the Society of St. Andrews Golfers (who would later become known as the R&A) also adopted this set of rules. As golf continued to grow, in 1888 the, now named, Royal & Ancient Golf Club at St. Andrews drew up a new code of rules. By the next year the R&A became generally accepted as golf's ruling body. Now the R&A and USGA govern the rules of golf for the world and meet regularly to discuss and coordinate new rules and rule changes. Basically there are 34 rules of Golf. However, there are approximately more than 100 sections and subsections. Moreover there are over 2000 explanatory decisions, probably giving golf the most complicated rules of any sport. We suggest that you forget the rules, make up your own, play YOUR game, and thoroughly enjoy yourself! After all, it’s your hard earned money that brought you to your knees while attempting your best Tiger Woods or Rory McElroy impersonation. Winning Golf Strategies is a satire, a spoof, and a comedic excursion into this wonderful game. Golf USA Magazine and Tee To Green Media, LLC in no way endorse, encourage, or suggest that you put into practice any of the concepts stated herein. Always abide by course rules and follow regulations. Remember, YOU are a guest of the golf course. By playing by the rules, your game will be more enjoyable, faster, and you’ll look forward to your next round!
