The distinguished competition takes place on Wednesday 10th April 2019 at Prince’s and entry is open to all boys and girls aged between 8 to 13 years old on the day of the event. Laddie Lucas, whose father co-founded the club in 1906, was an avid patron of junior golf and set up the event more than 25 years ago. Junior golfers from around the country compete for the hickory-shafted Spoon; the club that Laddie used as a boy to win a competition with aged six and make a holein-one aged nine. Perhaps his days as a kid watching the Sahara Invitational in Las Vegas in the 1970s inspired him to be a part of Las Vegas’ golf birth and growth into resort golf. He won the Nevada State Amateur as a 17-year-old, went to Purdue to help the Boilermakers win the Big 10 golf title in 1981 and on to the NCAA Tournament. It’s not easy, but Reflection Bay Golf Club on the shores of Lake Las Vegas may be a one of the best examples. The real estate recession of 2008 nailed the opulent subdivision in Henderson, which included the fabulous Jack Nicklaus’ designed Reflection Bay, along with the private Nicklaus South Shore Golf Club, and The Falls designed by Tom Weiskopf. Reflection Bay and The Falls closed in 2009, but Paulson and Company, a conglomerate founded by American hedge fund manager John Paulson, reopened Reflection Bay in 2014. The purchase included 1,000 acres and a decision not to reopen The Falls. Craig Barlow, a Henderson native, and Jim Gallagher are the two PGA Tour players who have been hired as teaching instructors. Barlow had a storied amateur career in Las Vegas winning every amateur title before turning professional in 1995. He made 170 cuts in PGA Tour events and has played in six U.S. Open Championships, one PGA Championship and one British Open. Barlow’s most heralded course record is a 63 at Cypress Point that is shared with Ben Hogan. Barlow states that his teaching philosophy is focused on proper set up, lack of tension, great rhythm in the swing and the realization that we shoot lower scores by increased focus on the “scoring areas of the game, 100 yards and in.” Gallagher grew up in Indiana and attended Ball State. His brother Jim and sister Jackie both played the professional tours. Jeff turned professional in 1987 where he won twice, on the then Ben Hogan Tour, the 1990 Cleveland Open and the 2000 Web.com Tour’s South Carolina Classic. He still competes on the PGA Champions Tour. “I hope The Lake Las Vegas Golf Academy will take, say, a very good

junior player and give him or her additional skills that will move them to become a college golfer,” Dutt said. “And I’m hoping we will become the place to come in Las Vegas for golf instruction.” Reflection Bay delivers Reflection Bay Golf Club, built in 1998, is set on luxurious Lake Las Vegas, located 20 minutes east of the Las Vegas Strip. n 2014, Scott DeLong needed answers to two important questions before interviewing for the position of Head Golf Professional on the island of Anguilla. “I wasn’t familiar with the island, so I Googled to find out where it was. I was also eager to see what kind of golf course they had.” DeLong learned that Anguilla was the most northern of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean and was home to 33 spectacular beaches. One of the main takeaways from the CuisinArt golf experience is the reminder that despite playing on a course with such magnificent views, there’s a feeling that you’re all by yourself. “This feeling of solitude is amazing. Norman purposely routed the course so you’re rarely along side another hole. When you combine the ocean views, the sounds of waves crashing, and our lush green Bermuda grass, CuisinArt is hard to beat,” DeLong said. Swept Away by Sea Views The visual action starts right from the 384-yard, Par 4, first tee box. On this lead hole, Norman sweeps golfers off their feet with a panoramic view of St. Martin. In you thought that was a fluke, the second hole offers brilliant ocean views while sharing a 16,000-square-foot green with the 10th hole. Depending on what month you’re playing, a golfer never knows what he or she might witness whenever sneaking a glimpse of the Caribbean Sea. In the winter season, neighboring St. Martin is famous for the mega-yachts that frequent the island, and in the month of March, everyone sets their calendars for the Heineken Regatta, the largest warm weather regatta in the world. At some point by the back nine, you realize that Anguilla’s trade winds typically have played an integral part in your round. Norman factored the island’s winds when he designed the course. On each hole, golfers should prepare for a slight mind game as to how to approach your tee shot based on whether the wind is at your back, in your face, or if there’s a cross wind.

Great Golf and Island Life Whereas much of Anguilla was punished by Hurricane Irma, CuisinArt Golf Club escaped relatively unscathed. “Most of our native trees are less than 20 feet tall, so they were able withstand Irma. What’s interesting is we’ve found new grasses that have popped up. Some of the sprouts have traveled as far as the island of Guadeloupe which is located 170 miles south of us,” DeLong said. Although Wisconsin doesn’t normally come to mind when thinking of Spring Break, a trip to Kohler can be an ideal way to kick off the 2019 golf season.
