Andrea Somers, a certified nutritionist, certified COVID-19 contact tracer and corporate flight attendant, is also a ServSafe instructor and proctor. Her business is named Food Safety Training & Exams. She provides specific training focusing on the importance of a comprehensive knowledge of food safety procedures in the workplace. All individuals that handle food, whether in preparation or serving, are required by law to be trained in food safety to insure the safety of customers and protecting staff from cross contamination and food-borne illness.
“I have been partners in two restaurants, as well as a private caterer for many high-profile clients when I was a corporate contract flight attendant, says Somers. “I had the privilege to travel and experience many cultures, exposing me to some of the most incredible chefs. My interest in food and the quality, presentation and how they controlled their kitchens. When it came time for me to retire from flying, a friend who worked as an instructor/proctor talked me into giving this a try. As the story goes, I love what I do and take great pride in providing the best training possible.”

In addition to food safety training classes for food manager certification, food handler training and alcohol training, she also helps newbies in the food industry with their setups. Primarily concentrating on Central Florida, she notes, “I take a personal interest to provide the very best training so that my clients succeed and are successful in their business. I remain in contact to give them updates on any changes in the industry and keep myself available to help them with any information or help that they need. My clients become friends and their success is a reflection of me.”
Somers advises that it is important for the public to be informed of changes in the food industry for their protection. She says, “The food industry has been the hardest hit and needs the public’s support, especially the small businesses mom and pop operations.”
