hen asked to describe the atmosphere of Aloha Island Grill, owner Patrick Keegan Sr. needs only two words: “Hang Loose!” As Spokane’s original plate lunch headquarters, Aloha Island Grill effortlessly infuses tropical Hawaiian flavors in their famous lunch plates, sandwiches and rice bowls. Menu favorites include Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken and the Double Aloha Half-Pound Burger! Group Meals, like the original Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea Party Packs, are great for groups from five to hundreds for meetings, parties, banquets, weddings and almost any occasion imaginable. In addition to the flagship store on Monroe, Aloha Island Grill has a location on Francis that offers a selection of beer and wine, along with a Big Island Breakfast Menu and Alohagrindz Espresso & Coffee. Both locations are proud to announce the arrival of the new Coca-Cola Freestyle machines. Aloha Island Grill is a beloved hot spot within the Gonzaga Community that is easy on the wallet and the palate. Check out their Facebook page for discounts; Aloha is now accepting Bulldog Bucks at the Monroe location. Guests can expect a casual, laid back experience, reminiscent of the many walk-up, take-out food venues found throughout the Hawaiian Islands. ne of Spokane’s hidden gems; Dolly’s brings a meal that is sure to curb your breakfast hunger pangs. The comfortable atmosphere transports diners from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding neighborhood to a relaxing home-style dining experience. Classic breakfast items like the Two Egg Breakfast and a wide variety of omelets give patrons the option for a traditional breakfast experience. However, to fully experience Dolly’s, the staff recommends the Eggs Benedict, the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast or the Bacon, Mushroom, Spinach, Avocado and Feta Cheese Omelet. Each dish shows off the unique, down-to-earth flavor of Dolly’s cooks. While it is easy to get caught up in the delectable goodness that is Dolly’s breakfast, they don’t take lunch lightly either. A plethora of traditional lunch items appear on the afternoon menu. For a “nevergo-wrong” option Dolly’s claims one of the best club sandwiches in Spokane. Getting off the beaten path, the hearty Guy Burger can quell even the largest of cravings and the Chicken Philly makes a classic sandwich even more amazing by using chicken instead of beef and loading up with even more toppings. tacks at Steam Plant offers guests the opportunity to dine within a historic Spokane landmark. Originally, the Steam Plant was constructed to produce steam heat and electrical power for downtown Spokane and was in operation until 1986. The restaurant features 80-foot ceilings, old boiler pipes and catwalks, a view to the pub down below and the opportunity to walk into the base of a 225-foot smokestack with an opening to the sky above! Stacks has a distinctive approach to dining, working with local farmers to create dishes that celebrate the region. Stacks even showcases its own nationally acclaimed, handcrafted beers. Serving up traditional pub fare and Northwest American cuisine, the food complements the one-of-akind space with flavors as unique as the venue. Menu items are made from scratch and many of the meats are smoked on-site. Entrée options include steak, seafood, pasta, entrée salads, burgers and poultry. House favorites include the Black & Blue Sirloin, seasoned to perfection and the Pub Style Fish & Chips, a generous portion of cod, dipped in tempura batter made from Steam Plant’s Highland Scottish Ale. From the food to the beer, the service to the atmosphere, Stacks hopes their guests leave in awe of their overall experience and are quick in their desire to return.

Veraci Pizza
There are as many pizza preferences as there are pizza eaters, but at Veraci Pizza, it is all about the crust. Made by hand daily, with fresh local ingredients Veraci’s ultra thin artisan-crusted pies are ready in two minutes. Maybe it is magic. Maybe it’s the 1000 degree pizza oven, fueled by Yakima applewood. Veraci was voted “Best Pizza in Spokane” by the food bloggers at SpoCool, but smoky, fire-kissed pizza is not all it has to offer. A full menu of salads, appetizers and desserts tailor to all types of eaters, and gluten-free options are available. Stop by during happy hour, weekdays from 3-5pm, for some great deals on equally great eats. Stay by for a slice (or a whole), or have Veraci cater your next event!
