The Goochland Christmas Mother Association has announced that Wanda A. Taylor has been selected to serve as Christmas Mother for the 2016 campaign. Taylor has given her time to the Goochland community for many years through service on the boards of the Virginia Cooperative Extension-Goochland Advisory Board, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children, the Department of Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission, Election Official for over 20 years and Chief of the Manakin Precinct. Taylor is currently the Vice Chair for the Goochland Electoral Board. Originally from Richmond, Taylor graduated from VCU with a Bachelor of Arts in Information Systems and Taylor went on to study theology at Virginia Union, earning a Master of Arts in Christian Education. Rev. Goochland residents continue to rally around a young man and his family after a recent beach vacation turned tragic. Riley Saunders, 23, was enjoying time with his family in North Carolina’s Outer

Banks on June 12, when he suffered a spinal cord injury that has left him partially paralyzed. According to Beth Valentine, a long-time friend of the Goochland High School graduate’s family, Saunders hit his head after diving into a wave, breaking three cervical vertebrae. The days and weeks since have been tremendously hard on the family, Valentine said, but Saunders continues to make progress. Valentine said the local community’s reaction see Saunders > 5

The Goochland Historical Society has launched a campaign to enable citizens and organizations to purchase commemorative bricks for placement on the grounds of the courthouse lawn as part of the Courthouse Green Restoration Project. The first phase of this campaign, which culminates in a ribbon-cutting event on Sept. 11, ends on July 15. Individuals and organizations are invited to purchase a personalized engraved brick, or bench, which will be attractively placed in a gathering patio near the Jail Museum. These items can honor family members, community leaders and pets, pay tribute to special occasions such as births, graduations and weddings, and can certainly provide a loving memorial. Bricks: two sizes will be offered, including a 4-inch by 8-inch, and an 8-inch by 8inch. The prices are $50 for the

Harrison Foundation awards $500K grant to county free clinic Funds will support effort to build organization’s new, larger facility Contributed report

Goochland Free Clinic and Family Services (GFCFS) has received a $500,000 grant from the Harrison Foundation in support of the organization’s All. Here. Now. Capital Campaign. The fundraising effort is being undertaken to finance construction of a new building that will combine eleven critical assistance programs, including medical and dental clinics, food pantry, and Clothes Closet, in one location. According to GFCFS executive director Sally Graham, the group’s current facilities — located in three separate areas with severely limited space — are no longer adequate for providing the high level of care for Goochland individuals and families in need. In 2015, GFCFS provided services for over 1,700 Goochland residents. “The Harrison Foundation is proud of its over-twenty-year relationship with Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services,” said the Foundation’s president, Marjorie H. Webb. “We have watched the organization mature into the first line of defense for those in need of medical and dental care, nutritional support, temporary housing, and financial counseling. We are pleased to be a small part of their continuing success.” Goochland Free Clinic & Family Services plans to build a 20,000-square-foot building on the current site of the Family Services’ offices at 3001 River Road West, as well as convert the existing main building into emergency housing. This central site was chosen to make it easier for clients to access all services. To that end, the couple is currently working to secure a conservation easement which will prevent the property from being developed. “I hope that future generations will have the same love of the land that my wife and

I have shared,” Nuckols wrote recently, “and I feel that protecting the farm by placing it in a conservation easement is the best way to accomplish that goal.” To Nuckols, the fact that the farm is now listed alongside other long-standing family farms in the state is a testament to both family and fortitude. “It’s really a tribute to our ancestors,” he said. “That’s how we look at it.”

She had been an active member of Springfield Christian Church and worked in the legal and banking industries for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Marion W. and Mary Crews Amos of Rockville. She was preceded in death by her brother, Malcolm W. Amos; and sister, Joyce A. Berryhill, both of Rockville. She is survived by her husband, Alvin J. Schulze, of Rockville; her nieces and nephews, William D. Berryhill (Jean), of Birmingham, Ala., Charles A. Berryhill (Margaret), Elizabeth B. Brockman (Mike), Joyce B. Fortune (Cochise) and Thomas A. Berryhill (Claire), along with their children; her stepchildren, A. James Schulze Jr. (Kathy), Carl A. Schulze (Claudia) and Thomas F. Schulze (Debbie) and their children; and many other cousins, great-nieces and nephews. Services were held at Springfield Christian Church in Rockville, on June 29. A crisis of curiosity? By Roslyn Ryan Editor

I recently came across an article suggesting that many of today’s young people, particularly those just graduating from college, seem to lack the fundamental life skills necessary to keep themselves fed, clothed, and sheltered. Essentially, the article said, while they may be able to build an app or pilot a drone, many now entering their early 20s are confounded by the task of boiling an egg. Changing a tire is not within their collective skill sets either, nor is repairing a button that has fallen off a shirt. Because of this, they are returning home to live with their parents in record numbers. And, because of that, many parents who might have had designs on enjoying a few kid-free years— or turning Junior’s childhood bedroom into a home theater — are finding themselves a part of a burgeoning class of Unempty Nesters. After much handwringing, the article made a plea for making sure basic life skills are a part of every high school student’s curriculum. To a certain extent, I’ll buy this. Yes, it’s true, many of today’s young people are woefully uninformed when it comes to basic life skills. But the thing that truly worries me is not what they don’t know, but rather what they don’t care to know. These days so many things have been made so easy — eggs come already boiled, and YouTube can

teach you just about everything else — that blaming kids’ lack of selfsufficiency on the demise of the Home Economics program is a bit of a stretch. In short, I think we may be facing a crisis not of capability but of curiosity. Let’s face it: Anyone with an internet connection or access to basic cable can learn to cook 1,000 different recipes. But first they must have the desire to cook. The same goes for sewing — a quick web search for “how to sew on a button” yielded over five million hits. But if you don’t care enough to wonder how that button was attached in the first place, does it really matter? Gone are the days when Boredom and Necessity conspired to force young people to “figure stuff out,” to build something, or to spend an afternoon teaching themselves the basics of some new skill. And, sadly, gone too may be some of the personal growth and increased maturity that went along with those pursuits. In the end, we can plunk students down in a class, teach them to sew the button, boil the egg, and change the tire. But, if we don’t instill in them the basic curiosity and self-sufficiency needed to build on those skills, they won’t progress much further — meaning many moms and dads are going to be waiting quite a bit longer to claim their new home theaters.

And most everyone I know has a week planned on the Outer Banks where families gather for weeklong reunions and celebrations of the season. The beaches aren’t bad either. Decades ago, trips to the beach were seldom overnight affairs, but, somehow, those fun-filled days seemed longer than the ones today. In my family, the beach rarely meant a swim in the ocean, and most of our beach days were spent a place called Buckroe Beach. It’s a small patch of waterside wonderment located near Fort Monroe. In those days, those adventurous enough to continue had to board a ferry to access Virginia Beach or go the long way around through Suffolk. We opted for what was then a lazy, beautiful beach where you could park your car close to the water in the shade of old trees. It was always a planned, family event when we made the trek, and my grandmother, aunts and uncles were always part of the gathering. It seemed we arrived at the beach just as the sun became warm enough to entice you into its gently rolling waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Following a morning swim, we gathered around the car and went from dish to cooler and collected a scrump-

tious amount of food. Now, technology has certainly evolved since the 1950s on a small beach near Old Point Comfort, but I seriously doubt if you can still get a home-cooked, chilled just right lunch like that anywhere on this planet. We always waited an hour after lunch before re-entering the water, something I’m not sure had proven validity but seemed to us like the cruel law of the sea as the minutes slowly passed and the coolers were returned to the trunks of bland-colored cars. Around 3 p.m. we showered and dressed in a public bathhouse on the beach, but the day was far from over. On the contrary, the best part of the day still waited as we made our way to a small amusement park that was across the street from the beach. The whole park was only one block in area, and an old wooden frame roller coaster encircled the property, its rickety old cars rattling the worn timbers each time they passed. Looking back, I suppose there wasn’t much there: a small carousel, Tilt-aWhirl, Scrambler and bumper cars. They also had a tunnel of love whose purpose held no impor tance to our group of kids except the huge dip at the end of the ride, re s e m b l i n g what now exists as log flumes in many mod-

ern amusement parks. The dip at the end was frightening as the old tin boats plunged down into a small pond at the bottom. By now, the sun was beginning to set, and the ride home was usually short, especially when most of it was spent in deep sleep. And, somehow, my parents managed to exhaust us while supplying a boatload of pleasant fond memories, nice enough to last a lifetime. They did it without the aid of iPods, cell phones and wireless access everywhere. I’m not sure what Buckroe Beach looks like today. I know it went through some difficult times, but the area is being reclaimed the last time I checked. Of course, it’s different. The old amusement park was razed years ago, and the smell of my grandmother’s fried chicken — just a delicious memory!

Many pet owners would love the opportunity to show off their pet and simultaneously help a good cause. The annual calendar contest at Richmond Animal League (RAL) provides the chance for pet owners to make their pet a star, and help other pets in need. Pets compete in a fundraising contest with the top fundraiser winning the 2017 cover. The top 12 pets will be featured on their own month of the calendar. Starting July 1, pet lovers can register their pet (or pets) to win votes toward the contest.

NEWS: What’s Going on in Goochland County

Every $1 donated counts as one vote. The calendar contest is a fundraiser that supports the 2,000 animals RAL cares for every year. Last year’s voting raised over $30,000 for Central Virginia pets in need. The contest runs July 1 through Aug. 28 and will end with a Calendar Countdown Party at the North Chesterfield shelter. The entire community is invited to the party that starts at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28. This is a free event with a suggested donation of $2 toward a calendar pet of choice. There will be food, games,

and excitement as last-minute donations are made and the 2017 winners are announced at 8 p.m. Attendees will then enjoy an outside movie presented by FunFlicks of Central Virginia. Contestants can enter the contest online at www.ral.org/ calendarcontest. All guidelines and rules are listed on the website. Pets must be within the Greater Richmond area to enter. All pets raising $100 or more will have a small photo in the calendar. Sponsorships are available for the 2017 RAL calendar.

Lap on Saturday evening, team members, friends and family walked around the gym, lap after lap, to honor and remember each of the cancer survivors and those who lost the fight. Even though we couldn’t light real candles, there were artificial lights in each of the luminaria bearing their names and the word “HOPE” was still spelled out up on the bleachers in the gym. Our theme this year, “Wish Upon a Cure,” was adopted in memory of Virginia Rose Vandermark, the 4-yearold little girl from Chesterfield who lost her battle with acute myeloid leukemia in December. Virginia loved Disney. Many of our teams selected Disney stories, dressing in character and decorating our sites. Kudos to the Bethel Church-Oilville team who won the costume contest for their theme, “101 Dalmatians.” Virginia Rose’s parents, Jonathan and Jennifer Vandermark, were there. They shared their very sad but heartwarming story with us and reminded us all why we were there. Teams sponsored a silent auction, raffles, a frozen t-shirt

contest, food sales and cake walks. We played with Hula Hoops and beach balls in the middle of the night and played card games. Some even caught a short nap. At about 6 a.m. Sunday morning, we closed the event with a community worship service with Pastor David Clark and music by Troy McClendon and Cindy St. Pierre. We must always remember why we Relay – we are there to honor our friends and loved ones who are currently battling cancer or who are blessed to have won the fight, and to remember those who lost the battle. We will continue our efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society to sponsor research to find a cure for cancer and to provide support and services to those battling cancer. This is a change, and will be the only location for applications to be taken this year. Applicants should bring their driver’s license or other identification with proof of residence in Goochland County. Applicants should bring their recent pay stubs, WIC or SSI stubs. Applicants who qualify for assistance from Social Services will likely qualify for Christmas Mother assistance. Volunteers are needed for Shopping Day which will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Shoppers are given wish lists and information needed to help select items for individuals and families. Shopping will start at 7 a.m. at the Walmart in Short Pump and will end in the early afternoon. Shoppers can stay all morning or just a few hours. Wrapping of gift items will take place from 8 a.m. until early afternoon on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Central High School Complex (formerly Old Goochland Middle School) at 2748 Dogtown Road. Adults and children are invited to help and encouraged to bring scissors. Families, churches, civic groups, and businesses that wish to do more can adopt a family. (Editor’s note: The following was submitted by Ramon E. “Trip” Chalkley III, commonwealth’s attorney for Hanover County.) As always, on July 1, 2016, certain new laws or amendments to existing statutes will take effect in the Commonwealth. Due to the veto session in the General Assembly, I have yet to receive the full text of all of these changes. What is set forth in the following is a summary of new legislation taken from a synopsis furnished by the Virginia Association of Commonwealth’s Attorneys. Should any reader have a question about any matter discussed in this summary, please contact me directly at 804-365-6186. This article does not discuss all new legislation, only those changes or new laws, which I believe are of interest to most of my fellow citizens. A district court may order that a dog that has killed only poultry be microchipped and be confined securely, or transferred to another owner. Previously, such dog would have to be destroyed or sent to another state. Civil immunity is provided to first responders who forcibly enter a vehicle to save a companion animal from serious bodily injury or death. This applies to damage to the vehicle or the animal but does not apply if gross negligence or willful or wanton misconduct is present. All wild birds and wild animals may be hunted with a slingshot, except deer, bear, elk, and turkey. It is illegal to intentionally release a hunting dog(s) on the land of another, posted pursuant to §18.2-134.1, without permission. A first offense is punishable by a fine; a second offense within three years is a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by a fine of up to $2,500.00 and/or incarceration of up to 12 months. Dogs simply being on the land is not sufficient evidence to prove intent. Local governments may pass ordinances to address the hunting of coyotes with a firearm larger than .22 rimfire. Asset forfeiture law was changed to state that interest in seized property may not be waived until an information has been filed. Roadside waivers that occur when law enforcement seeks a waiver of the right to property by

the owner on the side of the road has been eliminated. The burden of proof placed upon the Commonwealth in forfeiture hearings has been raised from a “preponderance of the evidence” to “clear and convincing evidence.” The definition of “abused or neglected child” was expanded to include children who have been trafficked. A Class 4 felony (2 to 10 years) was created for the abuse and neglect of a child when there is serious injury or death of a child under the care of an unlicensed daycare provider. Failure of the provider to secure the license constitutes a willful act or omission. A child victim evidentiary hearsay exception was created that permits a hearsay exception for an outcry of abuse by a child under a certain age to be admissible for substantive purposes. The hearsay statement is admissible in trial for enumerated felony offenses against children under the age of 13. Certain misdemeanor sex offenses against a minor had the statute of limitations extended to one year after the victim turns 18 to initiate a prosecution. Pimping a minor and aggravated malicious wounding by an adult upon a child were added to the sex offender registry. Also, an offender’s current work address and/or college/university were added to the registry online information. A homeowners’ association may request and receive from the Virginia State Police notice of the registration of offenders whose registered address is in the same or contiguous zip code. A juvenile intake officer may issue a capias (process for arrest) for an adult under age 21 for a crime committed before he or she was 18. The maximum jail sentence is increased to up to 12 months for each offense with a 36 month cap. A deferred finding for domestic simple assault is permitted when the victim is a family or household member. Previously, this was permitted only for a charge of domestic assault and battery. continued from >8 includes intentionally making direct visual contact or unreasonably being within 100 feet of the petitioner’s home or work. The requirement that a bodily injury be “serious” to charge a felony of assault and battery resulting in injury while under a protective order has been removed. In a stalking prosecution, actual notice to the stalker that the victim desires no contact provides prima facie evidence of intent to place the victim in fear of injury to the victim or the victim’s family. This notice may be provided by anyone, can be written or oral, and the protective order may act as notice. A second offense of stalking within five years is a felony (previously it was a third offense) and does not require the same victim be involved. Any defendant in a domestic assault case under a deferred disposition must be ordered into a treatment program. A new Class 6 felony (up to 5 years in prison) was enacted for anyone possessing a firearm while under a permanent protective order for domestic abuse. The individual has 24 hours after service of the order to remove the firearm(s). This applies to any permanent protective order, even if issued before July 1, 2016. A Class 6 felony was enacted to apply to any person under a protective order who violates the order while knowingly armed with a deadly weapon, not just merely possessing the weapon. Virginia residents are permitted to purchase firearms with just one government issued photo ID showing residency in Virginia. Armed forces members may use a Department of Defense ID and a copy of permanent duty orders assigning them to a post

in Virginia or a copy of their Leave and Earnings statement. Certain individuals previously adjudicated at age 14 or older of a crime that would be a felony if committed by an adult may possess firearms and secure a concealed weapon permit if they have completed a 2 -year term of enlistment in the military and have been honorably discharged. Virginia will recognize concealed carry permits of all other states if the holder is 21 years of age, the issuing state has a 24/7 verification process, the holder carries a government issued photo ID and the holder has not had a Virginia concealed carry permit revoked. It is now a Class 1 misdemeanor to fraudulently represent oneself as a former or current member of the Armed Services to obtain services (e.g., to gain a free haircut or discount admission into an event). It is a Class 4 misdemeanor to fit a dog with a vest, etc., in order to represent the dog as a service dog with

the intent to fraudulently gain public access for the dog. The minimum age for marriage was raised to 18 unless emancipated by court order. For motorcycles, the maximum number of lights allowable to provide forward illumination is increased from 4 to 5. DMV shall issue permits to vehicles transporting a watercraft when the total outside width is between 102 and 108 inches. No locality may regulate the use of privately owned, unmanned aircraft (drones) within its boundaries. This expires on July 1, 2019. A motor vehicle driver’s viewing of a moving image (TV, video) is now restricted by requiring that the equipment is factory installed and that the equipment has an interlock device that disables the image when performing a “driving task” as set forth in the statute. There is a civil penalty of $100 for smoking in a vehicle with a child under 8 years. A minor may give consent

to the taking of a Physical Evidence Recovery Kit if the parent or guardian refuses consent to the PERK. Procedures are set forth for the handling of PERKs. Injuring, destroying, etc., of firefighting equipment or an EMS vehicle with intent to prevent its use is a Class 1 misdemeanor. If the victim is under age 18, subpoenas, search warrants or orders for electronic communication service records will have a nondisclosure provision directing the service provider not disclose said issuance to the subscriber. An affidavit from the custodian of records of electronic communications eliminates the requirement that the custodian appear in court to verify the records are true, complete, and prepared in the course of business. ‘One big inning’ continues to plague Post 201 By Billy Fellin Sports Editor

American Legion Post 201 coach Eric Mead said he knows exactly what is continuing to plague his squad. “We give up one bad inning,” he said. “It happens every time. We give up a lot of runs in one spot and just can’t come back out of it.” Post 201’s “bad inning” hit against Post 175 on July 2 in an 8-1 loss. Another big inning reared its ugly head on June 30 against Post 137 in the bottom of the third and led to an 8-3 loss

on the road for Post 201. Post 175’s Chip Granderson led their big fifth inning off by reaching base after being hit by a pitch. Andrew Foster singled, followed by an RBI single by Jacob Weis and the carousel began to spin. Will Strong knocked two runs in with a double, chasing Post 201 starter James Heldmann. Relief pitcher Jordan Shumate allowed Eliott Sledd to hit an RBI double to make it 4-0 at that point. Sledd would score on a balk and a throwing error to make it 5-0.

Crosby worked a walked and Stephen Hurd would reach with a single. Both were brought home by Moore’s bat on a single to cap the scoring of that big inning. Against Post 137, the first twoand-one-half innings were scoreless between the teams before the bottom of the third came up. Starter Nic Norman for Post 201 surrendered a double to Post 137’s Kyle Ryan to lead off the inning. Norman struck out Colin Jones before walking leadoff hitter Brandon Rash. He then gave up a single to Jonathan

Treisler before Christian Hague came to the plate. In one swing, Hague deposited Norman’s offering over the right field wall for a grand slam and a quick 4-0 lead. Justin Bales entered the game in relief of Norman, and JT Creed doubled later in the inning, and scored on a single by Brett Jones to make it 5-0. Jones would score to make it 6-0. Post 201 wouldn’t respond until the top of the fifth. Seth McNease led the inning off with a single, then reached second on a passed ball. Two bat-

ters later, Scott Carter singled before Brian Fitch singled, scoring McNease to make it 6-1. Post 201 couldn’t keep the momentum going, however, as both Jordan Shumate and Joe Cutchins flew out to end the inning, stranding two runners. For the rest of the game, it seemed that whenever Post 201 would climb back with a run, Post 137 would nullify it when they came to bat. Cabell Early came in to pitch and

Legion continued from >12 walked Creed to lead off the bottom of the fifth. The next two batters were outs, but Ryan and Jones both singled and Creed scored to make it 7-1. Post 201 responded in the top of the sixth, when Jake Talley singled, then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Logan Allen singled to move Talley to third. Korey Singh then lined it off the pitcher’s glove and went to the Post 137 second baseman and turned a 4-6-3 double play, but Talley scored to make it 7-2. Fitch would score in the top of the seventh, after he walked and scored on an RBI single from Cutchins. Post 137’s Jones led the bottom of the eighth off with a home run to make it 8-3 for the final run of the game. Chipping away one run at a time has been a trend for Post 201, but it often isn’t enough to overcome that big inning. “We’ve done it for every game,” Mead said. “We can score one run an inning, but it’s that big inning that is really killing us.” Post 201 went 1-2 over the past week. Allen had two home runs and five RBIs in a 9-8 win over Post 361 on June 27, a game that was shortened due to lightning. On June 28, the “bad inning” haunted 201 again as Post 125F put up five runs in the bottom of the eighth to win 11-6. Singh had three RBIs for Post 201. “It’s a tough part of the season,” Mead said. “It’s one game right after another and it’s difficult to work on stuff. We have some pitchers that are struggling to find the plate and that’s what is causing these big innings. We’ve just got to get better at throwing that first pitch strike.”

Goochland sees flurry of personal best times By Billy Fellin Sports Editor

Goochland YMCA swim coach Helen Brown noted that her team was focused on two quotes from Arthur Ashe for the June 29 meet at home against Rockville. One quote was “start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” The other was “you’ve got to get to the state in life where going for it is more important than winning and losing.” The team certainly went for it, with multiple swimmers posting personal best times in the 916-638 loss to Rockville. “It was pretty obvious to me that my swimmers implemented Arthur Ashe’s wise words,”

Brown wrote in an email. “While we did not win the meet, many personal ‘wins’ were happening all evening.” All told after the meet, 44 of the Goochland swimmers posted a total of 86 personal best swim times, according to Brown. Goochland YMCA had five quad winners against Rockville. Summit Caul won the boys 11-12 50 yard backstroke N Division with a 48.66. He also won the N Division of the 50 yard breaststroke with a 44.97, the 50 yard freestyle with a 35.72, as well as being on the winning mixed 11-12 200 yard freestyle relay team, which posted a 2:23.75. Joseph Hardman also was a quad winner, taking the 11-12

50 yard backstroke JV Division with a 38.78. He was a member of the winning mixed 11-12 200 freestyle relay team in the SVR Division with a 2:07.66 and smoked the field in the 100 yard freestyle with a 1:14.78. His fourth win was a 39.25 in the 50 yard butterfly. Anneliese Rogerson won the 50 yard butterfly in the V Division with a 33.38. She also was the anchor of the 200 yard freestyle relay team that Hardman was a part of as well. Rogerson won the 100 yard freestyle with 1:05.50 and the 50 yard freestyle with a 29.69. Joanna Thompson won the 15-18 100 yard breaststroke with a 1:32.72. She led off the winning AR

Division relay team in the 200 free with a 2:08.47. She also won the 50 yard backstroke with a 37.56 and the 50 yard free with a 32.41. Mia Valdez also grabbed a quad win and started it off with a 40.81 in the V Division of the 50 yard freestyle. She also won the 25 yard breaststroke with a 22.41, the 25 yard butterfly with a 19.25 and was a part of the winning 100 yard freestyle relay time which posted a time of 1:25.16. Laura Brown, Nora Deshazo, Rose Evans, Ryan Johnson, Andrea Rogerson, Sophia Summitt, Jessica Valdez and Adele Wheatley were triple winners for Goochland. “I couldn’t be more proud of our swimmers,” Brown wrote.

“It is exciting to see what is working in practice transfers to the meet.” Brown also said that the volunteers outside of the pool did a stellar job as well. “I think the parents and YMCA Leader’s Club had the outstanding performance,” she wrote. “This was our first home swim meet and without a great group of volunteers, hosting a swim meet just doesn’t work.” Brown wrote that the GRAL sent congratulations along to the volunteers for Goochland, which fully staffed the meet with certified officials, which other meets in the GRAL were not able to do. Goochland YMCA hosted Antioch on July 6.
