Who is she? She is graduated in Architecture in Turin and she is an Art History teacher in our school. •

What does she do? The teacher as well as teach, work at many projects to guarantee the right development of recycling and of the separated collection also thanks to Comenius activities. •

Her projects: - Imput with the support of the educator Anna Errico of separated collection in our school; •

- Eat it up - Be smart at recycle.

Started during the years 2012/2013 4 baskets for class: indifferenciated, glass and alluminium, plastic and paper; 3 collection area every floor Collection center in the courtyard

•Doubts about waste: how much do we consume every day? •Comparison with underdeveloped Countries

- I’ve been for 6 months in South Africa and my point of view on the cantine waste has totally changed. •Waste at home VS Waste at school: is it true that at school we feel more free to throw away a plate of pasta than at home?

•Pictures taken during lunch •Magazines and internet

•Collaboration with teacher Deidda (autoorganized lab)

After having collected the informations: •

Impact on organic collection (7sacks between scientific and classic);

It was expected to find a lot of waste.

After having presented the results of our activity: •

An alerter attitude;

Not taken it to an extreme level (the middle path);

Drive given by the family.

  

To understand why is important do How do well the collection To inform the other Signs of sensibilation to stick on the indifferentiated container Important doing the collection because our school has a contract with the Amiat

 

A very pratical course Useful because it’s necessary think on our future and to doing it’s necessary render the boys more sensitive on the collection because we are the future, only in this way we could improve it not only for us but for the world; Our activity starts from a small group of students, but we hope to influenze many poeple so that it becomes something big.

The children of the Elementary school took a trip and they visited the hydroelectric plant

Goal Sensibilize the children and inform them about the importance of the natural elements

Last year

This year

In 2012: Consumption was approximately 13.942 m続 of water, which means 13.942.000 liters

In 2013: Consumption was approximately 9.743 m続 of water, which means 9.743.000 liters. 4.199.000 liters of water have been saved!

In the restrooms the taps were often Even thanks to the posters that we not closed and they usually leaked attached on the walls (next to the water. taps), more students follow the laws of the good environmental practises by closing all the taps, most of them pay attention to the wastefulness. In addition, there are not leaks in the water system.

Last year

This year

Our canteen was operative every day (even during the weekend because of the boarders). On the average, the dishwasher was used 6 consecutive hours per day.

Our canteen has been recently modernized and measures for the water-saving have been taken in regard.

The taps didn't have mechanisms for the water-saving.

We don't have them not even now but one of our aim is to put them in many restroom as much as possible

ELECTRICITY AND CONSUMPTION

For the analysis of the and measures of our lighting system we have collected and analyzed the data related the consumptions and the emissions of CO2, NOx, SO2 and radioactive waste per kW/h. As sample survey we selected our class. CALCULATION OF EMISSIONS 6 (luminaires) x 4 (lamps of each luminaire) x 18W (power of each lamp) = 432 W 432W x 1,51= 652,32 W :1000 = 0,65232W [Not all energy consumed is turned into usefull work, light in this case, another part is consumed by auciliary elements of the fluorescent device. So the actual power of each lamp is given by the formula (Power Lamps x Coefficient useful energy)/1000] ENERGY CONSUMPTION Energy [kw*h]; Power [kw]; Time[h] 0,65232 W x 1200h = 782,784 kWh (1200h is the outcome of: considering 7:30 hours per day, 20 days per month, 8 months = 7,5 x 20 x 8=1200h) ANNUAL EMISSIONS CO2 [390g/kWh] 782,784 kWh * 390g/kWh= 305.285 g/kWh SO2 [368g/kWh] 782,784 kWh * 368g/kWh= 288.064 g/kWh NOx [322g/kWh] 782,784 kWh * 322g/kWh= 252.056 g/kWh Radioactive waste [mg/kWh] 782,784 kWh * 0,32 mg/kWh= 250 mg/kWh TREES NECESSARY TO ABSORB THE CO2 GENERATED (data provided by the company Mnemix Energy Efficiency) 305,285 kg/kWh / 6 trees/kWh = 50,8 trees

To analize the lighting efficiency we carried out the measurements of the light level, , using an application to measure the illuminance, lux [lx], in different moments of the day To understand of what we are LEVEL/ Teacher's Desk near Desk near talking about: HOUR desk the wall the window 400 lux Sunrise/sunset on a clear day 08:00 985 602 1571 10:00

Data has been collected with all lights turned on, with the windows opened on a medially-sunned day, which is the most common one during our school period.

Nevertheless our dean told us that all the lightings systyems had been replaced a while before, and that those are the best available on the market. She also told us that no more high-consumption lamps are used in our school

The rilevation didn't change, exept in the new rooms which have higher acoustics that often is disturbing

Recently completed the remodelling and the qualification of some spaces in the school:
