Here at Activa, we are the local experts in all things home building related. In our new ‘Building a Home’ series, you’ll learn about the in-depth process of purchasing a new build from start to finish and you can follow our tips along the way! We are dedicated to making every step understandable, and hopefully, feel less overwhelming. We’ve already discussed the shopping and purchasing process so now it’s time for the most exciting part of the home building process – Design Studio Selection! Read on to learn how easy purchasing a new home with Activa is.

Our Award-Winning Design Studio

During the homebuilding journey, you will have a chance to visit our extensive award-winning Design Studio to see, touch, feel and experience the quality features Activa has to offer. With Activa, you can start from scratch to ensure your home is a true reflection of your taste and style. We work together to design your home so that every room is your favourite. As you progress through the next steps of building your home, you will be contacted by your assigned Design Studio Consultant 90 days before your “Commencement of Construction” date. At this point, we will offer you an exclusive Design Studio Tour and Pricing Appointment.

Our Expert Design Studio Team

Our talented Design Team will work one-on-one with you to guide you through the design process. A Design Consultant will review your options with you, and help you choose the interior finishes of your home that perfectly suit your taste and lifestyle! Depending on your home, we may even have pre-built packages selected by our team for you to choose from! Think flooring, railings, hardware and other finishes that add the wow-factor. The result is a home designed for you – and nobody else.

Design Studio Tour

Our expert Design Team will take you through our award-winning Design Studio. This is a unique and optional service we offer to you. Here you can view standard finishes that are included in your new home, as well as a large array of beautiful upgrade options. This tour will allow you to plan and visualize the most current and trending finishes for your new home. You will be able to view some of the most popular upgrade options in cabinetry, countertops, flooring, tiles, kitchen and bath fixtures and so much more! Make sure to take some notes and pictures while you’re there! This tour will help prepare you for your Colour Selection Appointment with your Design Studio Consultant where you will choose all of the finishes for your new home.

Colour Selection Appointment

You will be assigned a Design Consultant who will contact you to set up your appointment for your formal colour selections. Your consultant will work with you to help define your personalized style and expertly guide you through the interior selection process. Feel free to show your consultant photos, colour swatches or any visual inspiration you may have so they can provide recommendations on what we offer to help achieve your dream home come true! NOTE: Tours and Appointments are booked between the hours of Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Preparing for your Appointments

As you prepare for your design studio appointments, keep these tips in mind to make sure the process goes as smoothly as possible:

• Gather inspiration for what you want your home to look like – start looking at home magazines or online for ideas.

• Get your Pinterest boards and colour swatches ready because this is going to be a lot of fun! Mood boards are an extremely beneficial tool once you are in the Design Studio. It will also help our team members gauge the look, feel and vibe you are going for to better personalize their suggestions to you.

• Set a budget for your upgrades. The Design Studio is an exciting experience, but we want to make sure you are also staying within what you can afford. Setting a budget will allow our team members to present options that fit within this.

• While you are setting your budget, you may also want to make a list of “must-have” upgrades versus “nice to have” upgrades to make those tough decisions a little easier during your appointment.
