What Do We Mean by “Unconventional Activism?”

Unconventional activism is creative, innovative, and clever solutions to heartbreaking and oftentimes complicated problems and injustices. It’s made up of both seasoned advocates and everyday movers and shakers compelled to create a more just, fair, and thriving world.

It’s the unexpected ones, sometimes even the troublemakers, committed to unraveling propped-up systems of oppression or suffering. Sometimes it’s the ideas you wish you had thought of. Sometimes their ideas are unpredictable, but oftentimes that’s what makes them so effective.

Here we’ve compiled a collection of some of our favorite unconventional activists — people we admire for the ways they endeavor to reimagine the world in unexpected ways. They’re certainly changing the world for the better. Our hope is that you’ll be inspired by them to invent new ways to organize, march, and resist for the issues near and dear to you.
