Perhaps you think about the lower quality that usually attaches itself to the word? As far as I’m concerned it may be somewhat difficult to ascertain what the word “affordable” could mean on an individual basis, therefore I would like to tell you what “affordable” means to both myself and my company.

I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about how God has had (and still has) such an impact on our business. Through the good times and the bad, His presence is the backbone of what Affordable Roofing is today. On the worst day of the company’s history we found ourselves on the brink permanently closing our doors, but God had other plans. On September 18th, 2017, the building that Affordable Roofing was operating out of was found to be on fire. I’ll never forget the absolute distraught feeling I had when I drove up the lane towards my office only to see a profuse amount of smoke rising from the already decimated ceiling, filling the bright morning sky with darkness. It is hard to describe with words what it means to be speechless. Our hearts heavy with sadness and despair, my workers and I all looked at each other with what seemed to be all the more telling with what was in our minds: “What are we going to do now?” The morning blazed by, and in the aftermath we saw our building completely degraded to ash. However,

through God’s grace and mercy, we had managed to keep our company alive for the next few days. Soon after, God blessed us once again with the help of an amazing community, granting us office supplies, a temporary place to put up shop, and most importantly the hope of keeping the company alive and its workers fed. Everyone says that God works in mysterious ways, and that may be true. However, I can say for certain that there was absolutely nothing mysterious in the way that God came to our aid when we needed it most. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “affordable”? The word affordable itself may not be anything special, but I can tell you that to me it means more than just money or quality. To me it means service. Serve with a smile, even on the bad days. Serve equally to everyone, even if they don’t like you. Serve with passion, because it may very well be the last opportunity to make a difference.
