Don’t Fear Doubt

It is inspiring to see that throughout the Bible doubt does not stop God from working in people’s lives. Abraham doubted God upon His promise to make him a father of a great nation, but God remained faithful to His promise with the birth of Isaac. Moses doubted his ability to bring the Israelites out of slavery from Egypt, but God provided Moses with what he needed to fulfill his calling. Gideon doubted God’s calling in his life to rescue Israel from the Midianites, but God empowered and led Gideon to defeat the Midianites.

Throughout these accounts and others from the Bible, God was not intimidated by the questions the doubtful men asked God. Instead, He answered their doubts and remained faithful in helping them fulfill the calling He had for their lives. Like the Biblical leaders from the Bible, in order to resolve the doubt that we are experiencing, we may need to be honest with God about it. Additionally, I believe that it helps to share your doubts with fellow believers in Christ. When we share our doubts with other believers, it is an opportunity to help carry each other’s burdens and recognize that we’re not alone in our struggles.

Sometimes, we may not get immediate answers to our doubts. However, it is also important to note that despite our doubt, God has proven that He is still able to do His work through us. After all, it is like what God

declared to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). In our weak moments when we have doubts, God can move in mighty ways and receive the glory He deserves. Therefore, if you are experiencing doubt, remember that you are not alone in your struggle and that your doubt does not inhibit you from fulfilling the calling God has in your life.
