Simply Chic Boutique

Simply Chic Boutique is a Christian-based business located at 3330 Keith Street in Cleveland. They offer clothing, footwear, jewelry, and accessories for women of all ages! Simply Chic strives to carry something special and unique to fit every fashion need, offering clothing in women’s sizes ranging from small to 3X.

Simply Chic is owned by Christel Hudgins. After spending 12 years as a registered nurse, Christel turned to business in 2011, looking to create a boutique with unique items but without the heavy price associated with most boutiques. After months of research, phone calls, emails, and prayers, she started Simply Chic as an online-only business in 2012 while she and her husband were travel nursing. They settled back down in Cleveland in 2013 and decided to build their forever home. That left Christel with a big decision to make: should she continue the business or go back to nursing again?

After much prayer and many endless discussions, Christel and her husband opened their first storefront in Cleveland in 2014, which was among only one other specialty boutique at that time. They started small with no employees: just Christel working full time. God blessed her business, and with all of the love and support from the community, they quickly outgrew their space and moved in 2015 to the current location on Keith Street.

Now in 2020, eight years later, Simply Chic employs three local college students: Kaleigh Hughes, Madison Bare, and Sophie McCosh. Christel continues to work at the store full time, though, because it gives her the opportunity to interact with the people in the

community and allows her to stay connected to her business. As she said, “I love being involved in the business, and [I] love working with our customers every day!”

Christel enjoys the time she gets to spend helping her customers meet their fashion needs, making them feel beautiful and special. She said, “Over these eight years, our customers have become more like our family and friends. We don’t just shop together: we pray together, laugh together, and do life together. Getting to know our customers and them becoming our friends is the most rewarding blessing.”

Christel wants to thank God first for where she started and where He has brought the business today. Especially this year, with so many uncertainties, God has been good, and He has also been faithful. And of course, they wouldn’t be where they are today without the love and continued support of the Cleveland community.
