Iremember gripping the steering wheel driving down the road headed to see Paul. The food was in my front seat. I did not know why I felt such urgency to get to Paul’s workplace, but I drove, and drove in faith. I had not seen Paul for days. Why did I need to visit Paul? Was something wrong? I was eager to witness what the Holy Spirit was up to for the day.
After a short drive I arrived at my destination and quickly grabbed the lunch box. Through the glass door I could see Paul talking with a coworker. When I opened the door, they turned around with happy but confused faces wondering why I was standing in the doorway, in the middle of the day, holding a big box.
“We had some leftover food from our meeting earlier,” I said. “I wanted to drop by to see if you all would like some of this food for your lunches.” Immediately, they both excitedly grinned. After one grabbed the box, I headed out the door. Walking to my vehicle, I thought the whole situation was an odd experience, though was pleased with my “good act of the day,” and went on home.
Days had passed, but the significance of the act did not. Later I heard that the little lunch donation had made a huge impact on Paul. Paul did not have enough lunch for the day and was very hungry. He had said a quick prayer asking God to help him make it through the shift. After he prayed, He heard the business door open, and there I stood, smiling with a box of food.
The Lord takes care of His children. He knows our every need, and sometimes He will use us as vessels to help others in need, whether we realize it or not. I can openly admit that I thought it was strange for God to tell me to go visit someone who I had not spoken with in a while, but I knew to listen and obey His command.
God’s Word tells us in Psalm 37:25, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous
forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” I can share about many instances when God has sent people to bless me in times of need, lack, or with an answered prayer. I have seen others trust God when it seemed like God was absent, and He came through with a financial breakthrough, a child conceived, a scholarship awarded or a loud cheer exclaiming “She is cancer free!”
Let Him guide. Watch Him provide. May He bless you and use you for the Kingdom today.
