A Comforting Word About the Anointing

Purpose of Comfort
2Corinthians 1:3-4 states, “Blessed be the God, and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort which we ourselves are comforted by God” (NKJV).
God comforts His people so that they can comfort others in their time of trouble. I am amazed at how the Holy Spirit or Comforter will use every aspect of our lives for His kingdom and purpose.
The Promise of Comfort and The Ministry of Jesus
Matthew 5:4 states, “Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted.” Jesus was reminding them of a better day when this life is over. Sometimes life is hard and we have to encourage people with these thoughts. Second, the mission of Christ and our mission is to comfort those who mourn and those who are hurting. That is what He came to do and what we should do as well.
Luke 4:18 states, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” See also Isaiah 61:1-2.
Furthermore, in Isaiah 40:1, God tells Isaiah to speak words of comfort to His people recovering or who would recover from the Exile. We all need more of God’s comfort and healing presence for the things we have had to endure over the last year.
We, as the Body of Christ, need to pray for the anointing because He wants to comfort and minister to us, and minister to others through us. I am glad that the Holy Spirit reminded me of these things because I have been praying for more of God in my life and the life of the church. It is His Spirit that will turn hearts to Him as we lift Him up. See John 12:32. Another prayer I have been praying is for the Kingdom of God. These are some of the things we are to seek and pray for first. See Matthew 6. I just wanted to share some helpful information. Let us all agree together for more of God in our personal and corporate lives. God is so good. If anyone is struggling with receiving the Holy Spirit, I would encourage you with what God said in the last days—He wants to pour out His Spirit on all flesh. See Acts 2. Keep praying and do not give up. It is a prayer He wants to answer. Luke 11:13 states, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
