Building on the unprecedented success of Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at Samanea New York, producer Paquin Entertainment announced Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experience took over the same exhibition space at Samanea Mall, Westbury and opened October 7th. Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experience is full of infinite potential for wonder and sheds new light on what the world thought it knew about Claude Monet. The experience showcases more than 400 of Monet’s most iconic works of impressionism, including the Water Lilies series, Impression: Sunrise, and Poppies. Beyond Monet: The Immersive Experience gives guests a glimpse into the emotions and perspectives of the leading figure of Impressionism: Claude Monet. After entering the Garden Gallery, the Prism transports visitors into the biggest feature area of the exhibit. Taking inspiration from Musée de l’Orangerie in Paris, the designated home of Monet’s masterpieces, guests can freely roam the Infinity Room to absorb the artist’s bright and colorful paintings. Monet’s stunning imagery encompasses every surface of the room, transporting guests inside the paintings themselves. It is a haven for awakening the senses as the ebb and flow of the artwork is accompanied by the rhythm of an original score. Beyond Monet Tickets on sale at www.monetlongisland.com.

Almost two years after his death, legendary composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim is dominating Broadway with his hot ticket Broadway revivals of “Merrily We Roll Along” and “Sweeney Todd” and his final musical “Here We Are” opening this month. Adapted from Luis Bunuel’s existential films “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie” and “The Exterminating Angel,” by playwright David Ives, the new musical sports a starry cast: Francois Battiste, Tracie Bennett, Bobby Cannavale, Micaela Diamond, Amber Gray, Rachel Bay Jones, Denis O’Hare, Steven Pasquale, David Hyde Pierce and Jeremy Shamos, directed by Joe Mantello. SPORTS BEAT
The Mets honored their former pitcher Bartolo Colon last month by letting him throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The team also distributed t-shirts to fans with the words “Big Sexy” on them to commemorate the playful nickname Colon’s teammate, Noah Syndergaard, bestowed on him. As per tradition, Colon spoke at a pregame press conference only in Spanish and had Mets media relations manager Alan Suriel function as his translator. His former Mets manager, Terry Collins, admitted with a big laugh Colon always spoke to him with perfect English. Eight years ago, Latino Sports presented Bartolo Colon a beautifully engraved bottle of Don Julio Rum for being the best National League Hispanic pitcher. Afterwards, I saw Colon put it in his locker. “No beba su premio ahora!” (Which translates to “Don’t drink your award now!) I said with a chuckle. “I don’t drink!” Bartolo quickly replied with a wink. That may have been the first time he ever spoke to a reporter in English. The Mets faltered this year, but it was certainly not the fault of shortstop Francisco Lindor. Yes, he
slumped early in the 2023 season, but he picked up the pace by June. Lindor is also one of the most personable Mets and is continually active in the community. Those are key reasons why the Mets nominated him this year for one of baseball’s most prestigious honors, the Roberto Clemente Award. Lindor’s talent, along with his considerable charm, are the factors in why New Balance, which is far more selective than most other athletic apparel companies when it comes to choosing professional athletes with whom they do business, signed Lindor as an endorser. New Balance has just released a new baseball cleat called the Lindor 2 Vintage Puerto Rico in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Former Mets first baseman Ed Kranepool is a cultural icon. For many baby boomers, he was the Mets first baseman when they entered kindergarten, and he was still the Mets first baseman when they graduated college as he was with the team for eighteen seasons from 1962 right through 1979. It has been long overdue, but Kranepool has finally gotten around to writing his autobiography which is titled “The Last Miracle” (Triumph Books). Yes, Ed devotes a chapter to what for me is still sports’ most unexpected story of all-time, the World Series championship accomplished by the 1969 Miracle Mets. I spoke with him on the phone a few weeks ago and he told me he is still perturbed the Mets did not complete a second miracle in 1973 when the “You Gotta Believe!” Mets rallied from last place in August to win the National League pennant. “Yogi Berra should have saved Tom Seaver for Game 7 instead of pitching him on
shorter rest in Game 6. George Stone, who was our hottest pitcher that year, should have been our Game 6 starter.” The Mets wound up losing the 1973 World Series in seven games to the Oakland Athletics, who would go on to win the World Series the next two years. Kranepool has harsh words for Joe McDonald
ALLMANS, GARCIA JAM BANDS AT WHBPAC Tickets are $46-61 plus fees and can be purchased at whbpac.org, 631-288-1500, or at the Box Office located at 76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach.
A special evening of music awaits at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on October 21 when Andy Falco and Travis Book of the Grammy Award-winning bluegrass band The Infamous Stringdusters play the music of Jerry Garcia. Inspired by their love of the music of Jerry Garcia, the duo branches off on their own for occasional tours to celebrate Garcia’s timeless songs. “This solo project originated backstage at ‘Dusters shows where Travis and I would typically warm up with some fun Jerry songs,” Falco explains. “At some point we just thought it would be fun to do it in public.” Drawing from Garcia’s solo material, his Grateful Dead catalogue as well as the traditional songs he loved to play, fans can expect stripped down, acoustic interpretations of Garcia’s legendary catalogue. “Performing this music as a duo allows us to explore the songs and jam in a way that’s unique to playing as a duo,” says Book. “We typically hear these songs in larger ensembles, but the songs done with just bass and guitar somehow make the music very interactive with the audience.
FRIENDS OF THE BROTHERS A musical tribute to the Allman Brothers Band, the Friends of the Brothers features members who are closely associated with the original band, and who continue the brotherhood with passion. Experience the soulful sounds, electric energy, and timeless classics that made the Allman Brothers Band an iconic force in rock history, all brought to life by the Friends of the Brothers. From “Ramblin’ Man” to “Whipping Post,” every note is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Allman Brothers Band. Come for a night of music that will have you reminiscing and grooving like never before. The evening will also feature a book release celebration for New York Times best-selling author Alan Paul’s Brothers and Sisters: The Allman Brothers Band and the Inside Story of the Album That Defined the ‘70s. The event will include an author Q&A and book signing! Saturday, December 16th 8:00 p.m. $44.00 - $56.00 including fees and can be purchased at whbpac.org, 631-288-1500, or at the Box Office located at 76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach.

LISA POLIZZI BAND
By Lloyd Carroll who was the Mets general manager at the time. “He was incompetent. He made the worst trades. Other teams took advantage of him. He got pennies on the dollar.” He went on to cite such lopsided deals as trading Rusty Staub to the Detroit Tigers for over-the-hill pitcher Mickey Lolich and sending blue chip prospect centerfielder Amos Otis to the Kansas City Royals. Trading Nolan Ryan to the Anaheim along with three decent minor leaguers for fading shortstop Jim Fregosi, and then wanting him to play third base, was typical for the Mets under Joe McDonald. Of course, the most lopsided trade in which the Mets got the short end of the trade was the June 15, 1977, deal which sent Tom Seaver to the Cincinnati Reds for bupkis in return. Kranepool and Joe Torre urged McDonald to talk with the Dodgers who would have sent pitchers Don Sutton, Rick Rhoden, infielder Lee Lacy, and slugging outfield prospect Pedro Guerrero in exchange for Seaver. That would have been a far better haul, and it might have prevented the Mets from becoming a total disgrace from 1977 through 1983. It was a nice touch by the Mets to have All Elite Wrestling champion and Plainview native Maxwell Jacob Friedman to throw out the ceremonial first
pitch a few days before the AEW Grand Slam event at Arthur Ashe Stadium. You could not blame CBS Sports CEO Sean McManus, whose network has the broadcast rights to the lion’s share of New York Jets games, if he started breaking furniture and smashing objects after learning Aaron Rodgers would miss the entire 2023 season after just four plays in his first game as Jets QB. McManus was counting on Rodgers and Jets to be a ratings grabber, not just for Jets games, but also for its “NFL Today” pregame, postage, and halftime show throughout the season. Zach Wilson gets yet another chance to prove he is not an NFL bust as he was named the starting QB after Rodgers went down. He will need another Wilson, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, to have a big year if he is to succeed. Garrett just inked his first endorsement deal as a Jet as he is a pitchman for Dr. Teal’s Epsom Salts.

CLASSIC ROCK
FOGHAT NEW ALBUM ‘SONIC MOJO’ Fans of FOGHAT who are itching for new music are rewarded for their patience with the release of “She’s a Little Bit of Everything,” the second single from their first new studio album in seven years, SONIC MOJO. SONIC MOJO is exactly what FOGHAT–founding drummer Roger Earl, guitarist/engineer/co-producer Bryan Bassett, bassist Rodney O’Quinn, lead singer/guitarist Scott Holt—will be bringing to their loyal legion of fans on November 10 in the form of their new album on the band’s label, Foghat Records, which is distributed by Select-O-Hits (part of the Sun Records family). It will be available as a single CD with 12-tracks and a six-page gatefold cover, as well as an 11-track, limited edition 180 gram, purple neon vinyl. Digital pre-orders are now available here (including CDs available on Amazon), while CD and vinyl (including autographed copies) and merchandise bundles are available to pre-order. SONIC MOJO sees FOGHAT tip their hat to great artists that came before them, as well as giving plenty of winks and nods from the current lineup. While there are songs on the album written by Willie Dixon, (“Let Me Love You Baby”), B.B. King (“She’s Dynamite”), and Chuck Berry (“Promised Land”), FOGHAT shows they can still boogie with the best of them. ROBIN TROWER “I’LL BE MOVING ON” Robin Trower and Sari Schorr have revealed the smoky late-night vibe of new song “I’ll Be Moving On,” which is taken from their album ‘Joyful Sky’ - released on 27th October via Provogue/Mascot Label Group. Pre-order the album here: https://lnk.to/robintrower Talking about the propulsive and Bond-like groove of “I’ll Be Moving On,” Trower says, “This is my favorite track on the album.” “It’s soulful, has a vibe about it and shows Sari at her very best.” The greatest moments in Trower’s discography have become required listening for any student of rock ‘n’ roll. Don’t bet against the highlights of Joyful Sky joining the canon. They have previously revealed “Burn” from the album. “Burn is about someone who’s trying to calm down their partner,” Trower says of the smouldering opener. TEN YEARS AFTER BASSIST LEO LYONS Flatiron Recordings announced an October 6 release date and label debut for Movin’ On. Produced by Leo Lyons the Ten Years After bassist, “Hundred Seventy Split” is a power blues trio featuring Leo Lyons-bass, Joe Goochguitar/vocals and Damon Sawyer-drums. “Movin’ On is my first record released worldwide on Flatiron Recordings and as such is a milestone in my career,” says Leo Lyons about the new disc. “Studio time was booked for March, 2020 and when Covid hit, the project was delayed for over two years.” “Studio time was booked in late 2022 into 2023, recording a few days at a time; not ideal but we had to fit in around everyone’s availability. The plan was to play as live as possible with minimal overdubs. We recorded at Crescent Studio, Swindon, UK. The facility is operated by recording engineer /producer/ Damon Sawyer who also happens to be Hundred Seventy Split’s drummer.”
COMEDY SARAH SILVERMAN COMEDY ALBUM Emmy®-winning comedian, actor, writer, and producer Sarah Silverman returns with her fourth Comedy Special, Someone You Love, filmed March 30 & 31 at The Wilbur Theater in Boston. Premiering earlier this year as Silverman’s second HBO standup special, the audio from Someone You Love is out now via Thirty Tigers, available on all streaming platforms now, on vinyl December 15. Someone You Love follows Silverman’s 2017 Netflix standup special, A Speck of Dust, which resulted in two Emmy Award nominations and a Grammy Award nomination. Silverman previously earned the 2014 Primetime Emmy Award for “Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special” for her first HBO standup special, We Are Miracles, as well as a 2015 Grammy Awards nomination for “Best Comedy Album” after it was released on audio via Sub Pop Records. THE HAMPTONS COMEDY FESTIVAL Bay Street Theater announced they will be hosting the HAMPTONS COMEDY FESTIVAL, returning to Bay Street Theater this fall. The HAMPTONS COMEDY FESTIVAL is produced by Bay Street Theater with the goal of bringing top comic talent to the Hamptons. Festival shows are presented in a “Comedy Showcase” format, featuring a 4+ performer line-up of headlining comedians, each performing short sets at each show. One would rarely if ever see this much comic talent on one stage at any comedy club venue in the U.S.! This iteration of the HAMPTONS COMEDY FESTIVAL presents two showcases this year with 4 performers appearing Saturday, October 21st, at 8 p.m. In addition, each performance will feature a Surprise Guest Comedian. ARAB AMERICAN COMEDY FESTIVAL The New York Arab American Comedy Festival (NYAACF) announced its 20th Anniversary Celebration. For two decades, the festival has upheld its commitment to combating negative media portrayals of Arab Americans and Muslims, while showcasing the incredible talent within the community and fostering connections with industry professionals. “We are thrilled to celebrate the New York Arab American Comedy Festival’s 20th Anniversary with a National Tour to the most iconic theaters in the country,” said Maysoon Zayid, comedian, inspirational speaker and co-founder of the festival, “From the very beginning, our festival has aimed to challenge stereotypes and amplify Arab American voices. We started our festival shortly after 9/11. We used the power of comedy to refute negative stereotypes and create understanding and community. In the face of renewed islamophobia from political scapegoating of Arab immigrants, the festival’s anti-hate messaging is more vital than ever.” Maysoon Zayid is known for her record breaking TED Talk “I’ve got 99 Problems… Palsy is Just One,” The Festival will be in New York on November 19th at Town Hall. 22 • Good Times Magazine - October-13 - November 13, 2023 13, 2023 • 17 Good Times Magazine October 17 - November
WOMEN WHO ROCK of exploring stories that are inspired by her life, Chinese mythology, and the world around her. In her words, she creates “little worlds of magical realism, wherein the story is truer than the outcome, little bubbles that are all their own. The story does not merely arrive at the truth; the story itself becomes the truth.”
PHOEBE HUNT NOTHING ELSE MATTERS Singer/songwriter/fiddle player Phoebe Hunt released her new album Nothing Else Matters via Thirty Tigers. Featuring nothing more than her vocals and fiddle, this is Hunt’s most stripped-down work to date. Through eleven powerful and haunting tracks, all written by Hunt with co-writers including Maya Devitry, Jillette Johnson, and Dustin Welch, she grapples with the existential implications of what it means to be both an artist and a human being. After years of writing, recording, and touring with genrebending folk band The Belleville Outfit, and more recently as bandleader with her own backing band The Gatherers, Nothing Else Matters is Phoebe Hunt in her rawest form. Thematically the album features a fluid sense of questioning with songs like the existential, fiddle-fueled “Galloping,” as well as an undercurrent of strength seen in the coming-of-age title track “Nothing Else Matters,” and a sweet tenderness in love songs like “Molly, My Dear.”
DEAU EYES MUSIC VIDEO Deau Eyes (aka Richmond, Virginia-based artist Ali Thibodeau) revealed a new music video for the title track of her 2022 sophomore album Legacies, which resulted in recognition as one of NPR Music’s 2023 Artists to Watch and Richmond’s highly competitive Newlin Music Prize. The cinematic video depicts an apocalyptic wedding brought to life with the help of her brother and longtime collaborator, Michael Thibodeau, who directed the clip. Recording Legacies over the course of four months, Thibodeau spent her days waitressing and her nights tracking, either in her own closet or the respective studios of her co-producers, Scott Lane and DJ Harrison. The 10-song set blends a multitude of genres and textures to create “pure alt-pop bliss” (Under the Radar) tailor-made for her “transcendent” vocals (Flood Magazine). NPR Music says the result “boasts a sonic maturation that’s still firmly anchored by Thibodeau’s standout voice and songwriting prowess.”
HONEY BXBY RETURNS WITH TOUCHIN’ Merging disarming truthfulness with flesh-and-bloodsex appeal, her emotional honesty has garnered rising notoriety. Her singular soundscape blends serene, honey-laced vocals with unbridled and cold-blooded raps. Her sound can be described as a synthesis between unadulterated rawness and vulnerable authenticity. On her debut EP, she flirts through genres with bullish command taking you through varying, relatable tales.

JULIA BHATT GRAB BAG EP Similar to her 2022 debut album (it is what it is), which Loud Women describes as “…like an audio version of Bhatt’s home, Miami: there’s a brightness and clashing of different elements that are necessary for the end product,” this Grab Bag EP shines with Bhatt’s ever expanding gen-Z genre-fluid talent. For this EP, she brilliantly intertwines her original tracks (the melancholic, pensive “For The World” and the forlorn, cathartic “Time”) with luminescent interpretations of Aminé’s “Charmander” and Broox’s “Mom.” Julia Bhatt’s new single “Charmander” was released independently September 21st, Her Grab Bag EP will be released on November 17.
MINGJIA STAR STAR On November 17th, Mingjia, the vocalist, composer, songwriter, improviser, and multi-instrumentalist lauded for her ability to “synthesize multiple influences into a unique, modern style” (The Whole Note), and whose compositions “communicate an opera’s worth of feelings and emotions, firing all of our senses together at once” (Dominionated), will release her new album, star, star, via New Amsterdam Records. star, star is a collection of kaleidoscopic, through-composed, and emotionally charged songs written by Mingjia for herself and the Tortoise Orchestra, a Toronto-based 13-piece chamber ensemble that marries courageous songwriting with curious, colorful orchestration, and improvisation. Throughout star, star, Mingjia utilizes songs as a means

LYDIA LOVELESS “SEX AND MONEY” Lydia Loveless (she/her/they/them) shared her new single “Sex and Money,” a standout off their new album Nothing’s Gonna Stand In My Way Again, via Bloodshot Records. Premiering via FLOOD Magazine, the track arrives with an equally charismatic and entertaining video directed by Katie Harriman and inspired by MTV TRL-era music videos from the early aughts. “I’m most excited that we could highlight Lydia’s comedic acting in this. We wanted to pay homage to the golden era of music videos—the early 2000s—with some comically-raunchy fantasy scenes and over-the-top glamour shots,” As the world came undone and then back together again, Loveless returned to Columbus, OH, where her career first began. Starting anew, she found part-time work at a recording studio (Secret Studios) and began processing the last two years of her life. The title of her new album, Nothing’s Gonna Stand In My Way Again, came easy—like a mantra from the heavens.
WHEELS & DEALS of Fleetwood Mac’s mid-tempo masterpieces. The trio weaves layers of intricate melodies into their unique brand of dream pop—Nair’s cascading guitars swirl around Marksson’s melancholic tenor, joining forces with crystalline synths, nimble basslines, and Haywood Smith’s assertive drumming. Euphoric opener “Hazy Eyes” sets the stage for post-punk urgency (“Open Hand”) and stadium ballad melodrama (“Sober”); all the while, Marksson’s inimitable croon reaches for the back rafters. “Who do you dream about now?” he sings on “Selfish,” the EP’s most barn-burning moment. “Would it hurt me if you say you love me?”
SUPER MEGA TRIVIA SLAM On September 20th, Super Mega Trivia Slam - a fun and interactive game show that encourages people to shout out the answers, creating a unique trivia experience, began a monthly residency at Drake Media Studios, a world class state of the art film/television/ audio production facility located right in the center of Long Island, at 270 S Service Rd #55, Melville,. “The main idea for the show is to present trivia in a brand new way where people just don’t have to sit there and be quiet,” The show’s creator Steve Strangio recently said. “This type of show encourages a whole new level of fan interaction and creates a fast paced, fun trivia experience that focuses on the performance instead of keeping score”.
ENDEARMENTS NEW EP Kevin Marksson wears his heart on his sleeve. Never one to shy away from big emotions, the Brooklyn songwriter has poured three years of diaries into the music of Endearments. The Brooklyn trio’s latest EP, It Can Be Like This, is no exception. While the band’s 2021 debut, Father of Wands, chronicled the dissolution of Marksson’s marriage, It Can Be Like This swings the pendulum toward the electricity of new love. “It’s about learning how good a relationship can feel after years of believing that love came with a certain built-in difficulty and pain,” Marksson explains. Under ABE Seiferth’s deft guidance, It Can Be Like This marries the shimmering guitarwork of The Passions’ Thirty Thousand Feet Over China with the pop sensibilities
SPACE CADET “SUEDE ORIGINALS” Space Cadet was formed in 2020 when Matt Hock and Dave Walsh of The Explosion (Virgin, Jade Tree) wanted to expand their collective sound beyond punk rock. The following year, they channeled influences of shoegaze, Brit rock, new wave and punk into their acclaimed debut LP on Wiretap Records, ‘Lion on a Leash.’ Now two years later, the band has just released ‘Suede Originals,’ a 4-song EP and the first release by Brooklyn’s Miserable Neighbor Records. The record is a concentrated dose of driving guitars, big choruses, and insistent hooks. Initially slated to appear on the next Space Cadet full-length, these songs deserved to stand on their own. ‘Suede Originals’ was produced by Pete Steinkopf (Bouncing Souls) at Little Eden in Asbury Park and mastered by Alan Douches. It features Matt Olsson on bass and drums.

TECHNOBEAT The last month has been a wild ride to say the least. There as been a nonstop stream of amazing music in my life and I couldn’t be more grateful. I’ve gotten to explore quite a few different festivals across the country, all in very different environments with varied lineups. All unique in there own way. Let’s dive in a take a look at what September brought for electronic music. Electric Zoo was first up, taking

multiple visual panels set up in a semi-circle gave and intimate feeling when at this stage. The nights here were shared with the likes of Griz, Big Gigantic, Zeds Dead, Boogie T, Dirt Monkey, and so many great bass artists. The lighting design and lasers were on point and the sunsets behind the stage were beautiful. One of my favorite stages was the Morphosis stage. This spot had blocks stacked asymmetrically giving

place on Randall’s Island in New York City. The festival lineup was a home run including top tier acts like Zedd, Galantis, The Chainsmokers, Kx5, Griz, Excision, Big Gigantic, John Summit, Dom Dolla, and many more more. However, from the get go, the festival was marred by logistical nightmares. Day 1 was cancelled hours prior as not all of the stages were fully set up. On Day 3, entry to the festival was blocked at around 7 p.m. due to capacity issues. This was definitely a bit of a damper on the whole experience, but for the artists that did come through and the time I spent, I felt like it really delivered in production quality. The layout of the festival was completely revamped from previous years and the main stage area really felt like it was on the next level. A giant facade was set up, creating a clear entry to the main stage and separating it from the rest of the festival. Much more space was given to this area this year and I did really like the stage design here. The Continuum stage is where I spent most of my time and this spot was really awesome. There was an elevated viewing area as well that anyone could go into which gave you a birds eye view of the crowd, the stage, and the New York City skyline in the background. I truly have never had such a great vantage point to see some of my favorite artists. The
a very artistic feeling to the stage and an incredible visual experience to the viewer. All of the blocks had screens on them and definitely was something unique I hadn’t experienced before. The highlight of this stage was Nora En Pure’s sunset set here; beautiful and captivating melodies set in an intimate space really helped the viewer to get lost in the music and the vibes. Despite everything, I do really like what Electric Zoo tried to do this year and think there is some refinement that needs to happen to perfect the execution. Once that happens, Electric Zoo can reclaim it’s throne as the premier NYC festival once again. Taking a trip over to the Ozarks in Arkansas, we arrive at Mulberry Mountain for this year’s installment of Wakaan Music Festival. Simply put, I love this location and this event. Situated in the mountains of Arkansas, this festival always feels like home. It’s kept small every year with around 15,000 attendees and the layout, design, talent, and vibes are always on point. No matter where you are camped, you are always within a 10 minute walk to the main stage. There is also only one stage during the day from around 1 p.m. - 2 a.m. This makes it incredibly easy to find a good spot and set up your group’s space and just chill all day. This is a weekend of weird bass music and hanging out. I’ve never
20 • Good Times Magazine - October 17 - November 13, 2023
seen another event quite like it. Walking through the main stage area at 5 p.m., you can see hundreds of people with their chairs and couches set up, making the ultimate lounge space for listening to music. Some people even set up full living rooms with rugs and tables! This year, a bounce house was brought in by an attendee for some afternoon fun. Once the main stage shuts down at 2 a.m., two late night stages open up, providing mu-
sic until 6 a.m. It truly is a marathon but one I love dearly. This year’s lineup included sets from Liquid Stranger, LSDream backto-back Inzo, Griz, Tvboo, Ravenscoon, Mersive, Peekaboo, Yheti, and just about any other bass producer you could want there. Although the main stage has a simple design, it really executes on what its goal is. The lighting and visuals are still top notch without getting too fancy and there is always plenty of space to view the sets from wherever you want. Both late night stages are in the forest and the Halo Stage is rocking a sound system from Hennessey Sound, giving some of the punchiest, crisp, and hard hitting bass I’ve ever felt in my life. I constantly meet some of the most amazing people at this festival and I love everything about it. Entry and exit was easy and no one there takes themselves too seriously. It’s truly a gem in the festival world and I hope it can continue to be this for years to come. Thanks for joining me for the fall festival tour and I hope you’ll be hitting some of these up next year! Feel free to reach out to me with any thoughts at richiegtechno@gmail. com. And remember, keep raging my friends!

KOOL SPEKTRUM OVERCOMES STEREOTYPES “You don’t have to be the same as everyone else to chase your dreams.” Kool Spektrum is a local Long Island band of individuals who have autism. They embrace who they are and how their disability won’t stop them from inspiring others to pursue their passion. The band of four, who all met at Rock-n-Roll U was formed 3 years ago and have been playing at venues across Long Island ever since - such as: 89 North, Rock City Dogs, Smithtown Bean, Napper Tandy’s and more... The band works to inspire and give back to the local community by supporting organizations, such as Autism Communities (AC). AC was founded in 2016, with the goal of providing adults with autism a home of their own that fosters an independent, safe and inclusive living environment. We go out everyday and are proud of the fact that anyone with a mental disability can do anything they put their mind to. You never know how far you can go unless you actually try.”, said the drummer, Steven Niciforo. Come out and rock on with them on November 11 from 3-6 p.m. at: Twisted Cow Distillery, 13 Hewitt Square, East Northport.
ACE FREHLEY TO HIT STEREO GARDEN Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley is best known as the original lead guitarist and cofounding member of the hard rock band Kiss. He invented the persona of The Spaceman (a.k.a. Space Ace) and played with the group from its inception in 1973 until his departure in 1982. After leaving Kiss, Frehley formed his own band named Frehley’s Comet and released two albums with this group. He subsequently embarked on a solo career, which was put on hold when he rejoined Kiss in 1996 for a highly successful reunion tour. Frehley’s second tenure with Kiss lasted until 2002, when he left at the conclusion of what was originally purported to be the band’s farewell tour. His most recent solo album, Origins Vol. 2, was released on September 18, 2020. Guitar World magazine ranked him as the 14th Greatest Metal Guitarist of All Time. Outside Kiss, Frehley had commercial success, with his first solo album going platinum. His first album with his “Frehley’s Comet” band was also a big seller. Frehley is noted for his aggressive, atmospheric and melodic guitar playing and is also known for the use of many “special effects” guitars, including a Gibson Les Paul guitar that emits smoke from the neck humbucker pickup and produces spinning pyrotechnics, and a custom Les Paul that emits light based on song tempo. Frehley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Kiss. He’ll be bringing his great talent to the Stereo Garden in Patchogue on November 11th. JAZZ & BLUES CHRIS BOTTI SINGLE “PARIS” GRAMMY-winning trumpeter Chris Botti teams up with singer-songwriter John Splithoff on the new single “Paris” from Botti’s forthcoming Blue Note debut Vol. 1 due out Oct. 20. Known for hit indie pop songs including “Sing to You,” “Show Me,” and “Raye,” Splithoff’s romantic bossaflavored song “Paris” is an ideal showcase for Botti’s elegant melodicism and lustrous tone. Botti introduced Vol. 1 with the prior singles “Old Folks” and “My Funny Valentine” featuring violinist Joshua Bell. Botti has been one of the most popular instrumentalists in the world for nearly three decades; he’s collaborated with some of the biggest superstars in the world including Sting, Paul Simon, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Joni Mitchell, Andrea Bocelli, Herbie Hancock, Yo-Yo Ma, and others. In short, Chris Botti really needs no introduction. Yet with his Blue Note Records debut, he’s offering one anyway. Vol.1 is in many ways a fresh start for the trumpeter. Having successfully crossed over from jazz renown to pop stardom, Botti’s first album in more than a decade finds him crossing back, with a small group project focused on acoustic jazz and classic standards. JEAN-MICHEL JARRE ‘OXYMOREWORKS’ “In the German language, ‘Zeit’ signifies time, and ‘Geist’ represents spirit,” explains Irène, who draws on these meanings to infuse in her interpretation of the original version of “ZEITGEIST” with a profound sense of the eternal. OXYMORE, released in 2022, was crafted as a tribute to the French roots of electronic music which has had a major influence on the music production of the genre over the years. OXYMORE is also an homage to the late French composer Pierre Henry, an iconic figure in electronic and classical music. Conceptually it is his most ambitious and groundbreaking album to date, and the first commercial release of this scale which fully utilizes multichannel and binaural sound (spatial 3D). Jarre produced, composed, recorded and mixed in 360 degree audio in the “Innovation” studios at Radio France.OXYMOREWORKS is released November 3rd. Photo credit: Rousseau

ROY NATHANSON RELEASES “82 DAYS” New York band leader, saxophonist, and composer, Roy Nathanson is a passionate storyteller. His stories are reminiscent of Woody Allen or Marx Brothers’ wicked humor, and are deeply human, playing with shades of memory as they showcase the ridiculous plots of daily life. This toolbox in hand, Roy Nathanson has been involved in aspects of New York’s music history for the last 40 years. “82 Days” the new album of Roy Nathanson, is a departure from his previous work, drawn both from the drive to keep to creating new outlets for his musical and lyrical expression and the limitations and isolation imposed by the Covid pandemic. “82 Days,” the album that came out of this long process, is a suite of heart touching humanity. He started conjuring up traditional songs like “Amazing Grace” (the song it all started with) and “Go Down Moses”, writing new compositions that grew organically out of the pandemic, and reimagining classic tunes like Bill Withers’ hit “Ain’t No Sunshine,” Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” and Thelonious Monk’s “Green Chimneys.”
BITS & PIECES The three Super Deluxe Edition releases comprise a total of 72 tracks with 53 previously unreleased tracks. Among the unreleased material, two full In Utero-era concerts, namely Live In Los Angeles (1993) and the band’s final Seattle performance, Live In Seattle (1994), are included in addition to six bonus live tracks from Rome, Springfield, and New York.
BRYAN ADAMS NEW LIVE BOX SET Award winning singer/songwriter Bryan Adams, whose live concerts and signature brand of feel-good rock and roll and hit ballads have established him as one of the world’s best rock singers and showmans announced a series of concerts recorded live at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall will be released as a box set via BMG. In 2022, Adams headlined three epic nights at the venue where each evening Adams performed one of his classic albums in its entirety: Cuts Like A Knife (Night 1), Into The Fire (Night 2) and Waking up The Neighbours (Night 3). Scheduled for release December 8, LIVE AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL includes a total of 35 live songs, a Blu-Ray DVD of all the performances, plus a 32-page photo book featuring exclusive images from the storied nights.
JIMMY BUFFETT’S LEGACY CONTINUES The music world remembers and celebrates Jimmy Buffett – beloved singer-songwriter, performer, entrepreneur, best-selling author, and Mayor of Margaritaville. Buffett instructed us to “keep the party going,” and that’s just what we’ll do. Buffett’s musical legacy continues with a meaningful and heartfelt album, Equal Strain On All Parts [Mailboat Records, distributed by Sun Records], due November 3. The title is inspired by Buffett’s grandfather’s description of a good nap. The record, co-produced by longtime Coral Reefers, Michael Utley and Mac McAnally, features well-known friends, including Paul McCartney, Emmylou Harris, Lennie Gallant, Angelique Kidjo, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Recorded this year, the 14-song album brims with Buffett’s characteristically playful songs, but it also brings a thoughtful side. Full of Buffett’s wry wit and breezy musicality, three songs from his new album arrive on streaming platforms: “Like My Dog,” “My Gummie Just Kicked In,” and “Bubbles Up.
EVERCLEAR AT THE WHISKEY A GO GO Everclear, one of the leading alternative rock bands to emerge from the ‘90s led by vocalist, guitarist and founder Art Alexakis, has released their new live album, Live at The Whisky a Go Go, via Sunset Blvd Records. In addition to the live show, the 17-track collection includes two bonus studio tracks including their new single “Sing Away,” a powerful song addressing teen suicide and bullying written from the perspective of a grieving parent. Live at The Whisky a Go Go, available digitally, on CD and 2-LP Coke bottle green vinyl, was recorded and filmed in late 2022 during Everclear’s 30th Anniversary Tour in Alexakis’ hometown of Los Angeles and marked the first time the acclaimed quartet performed at the famed venue. The album features all the hits and hidden treasures from throughout the band’s extraordinary catalog, including “Father Of Mine,” “Wonderful,” “Santa Monica,” and “I Will Buy You A New Life” as well as last year’s single “Year Of The Tiger” in addition to “Sing Away.” NIRVANA IN UTERO: 30TH ANNIVERSARY To say that Nirvana’s third and ultimately final studio album In Utero was one of the most impactful records of the modern era would be an understatement. Originally released September 21, 1993, In Utero’s unadorned sonic rawness was received by critics and fans with equal measures of shock and elation, as Steve Albini’s recording laid bare every primal nuance of the most confrontational yet vulnerable material Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl would ever record. And with its 1991 predecessor Nevermind having sold some 30 million copies and causing a seismic pop cultural shift, In Utero was essentially the first record Nirvana would make with any expectations from the public. In Utero went on to mark Nirvana’s first #1 debut on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified 6x platinum in the United States. Geffen/UMe commemorates the 30th anniversary of In Utero with several multi-format reissues, arriving on October 27, 2023. Configurations include a limited-edition 8LP Super Deluxe box set, 5CD Super Deluxe box set, 1 LP + 10” edition, 2CD Deluxe edition, and a Digital Super Deluxe edition.

JACK HARLOW “DENVER” MUSIC VIDEO Multiple GRAMMY-nominated rapper/actor/entrepreneur/philanthropist Jack Harlow returns with the cinematic visual for “Denver,” from his third studio album, ‘Jackman.,’ released in late April. The Eliel Ford-directed visual was filmed in Denver, Colorado and is the third music video from Jackman., following the release of “Gang Gang Gang” and “They Don’t Love It,” both of which were filmed in Louisville, Kentucky & directed by Ford. Earlier the Kentucky-native announced the first-ofits-kind, No Place Like Home: The Kentucky Tour. Produced by Live Nation and Production Simple, the Kentucky superstar will take his 3rd annual hometown shows to a new level with an exclusive 6-city tour, with stops across Kentucky. The tour will kick off on Friday, November 24th at Owensboro Sports Center in Owensboro and will wrap up in Lexington at Rupp Arena on Sunday, December 3rd. TAKING BACK SUNDAY “152” Commenting on their new album 152, Taking Back Sunday states, “’152’ offers a lot more hope and light than we first realized when we were in the thick of it, putting it all together. We’ve been fortunate enough, through our music, to grow up with a lot of people going through the same things at the same time, and probably feeling the same way. Our hope is that you’re able to find a little bit of yourself in this new collection of songs, because you’re not alone, and neither are we.” Produced by Tushar Apte (whom the band met through a mutual collaboration with noted DJ Steve Aoki) and mixed by Neal Avron (Twenty One Pilots, Bleachers), the long-awaited LP features 10 intensely vulnerable and absorbing new tracks all delivered with fresh ambition and newfound purpose. Inspired by the long layoff and the cloud of uncertainty that blanketed the world (and music industry) these past few years,152 stands among the most genuinely reflective and emotionally pure efforts of Taking Back Sunday’s illustrious career.
