Introduction

Exploring the unexplored and popularizing the unpopular are always an adventurous and interesting activity. When it involves ‘food’, one of our basic needs and ‘taste’, one of our primary senses, it just gets even more interesting. This project is such an attempt to explore the unexplored tastes and get it out to the people.


Ammini Ramachandran

FOOD WRITER • AUTHOR • CULINARY EDUCATOR Ammini Ramachandran is the founder, writer and editor of Pepeprtrail.com, a three part website. Along the Peppertrail introduces the reader to Kerala’s cultural and culinary traditions through articles and recipes. Grains, Greens, and Grated Coconuts is a preview of her cookbook on Kerala’s vegetarian cuisine through concise chapter summaries, featured recipes, and book reviews. The latest addition, Treasures from the Past, explores India's ancient culinary history though articles, stories and recipes. She was one of the most reliable source of information for the project regarding food and its related subjects.


Vidya Arun

COOK • BLOGGER • FOOD ENTHUSIAST Vidya Arun is an active food blogger, based in Kochi, Kerala. She loves food and shares her recipes with the world through her blog named ‘Kurryleaves’. She was one of the most reliable source of information for the project at its initial stages of data collection and analysis.


Reshmy Kurien

COOK • BLOGGER • FOOD ENTHUSIAST Reshmy Kurien is an NID alumni who, in her words, spent half of her career in food. She owns the blog ‘ BombayChowparty ‘, a site all about food. A very active foodie and officially a UI/ UX consultant for many years, Reshmy loves cooking, eating and travelling and thinks about food always as she says about herself. Her conrtibution to the project was crucial at it’s critical stage of converting the data into visual prototypes.

Just think Food!!!!

The project started off with a basic brainstorming session where people came around and wrote down everything that came to their mind about food.

A ‘food’ brainstorming was done with the localites of Kerala


Now just Kerala food

It was followed by a collection of everything that represented Kerala food for any one ‘off ’ the region.


Categorising

The wide range of food names and everything related got out of Keralites were categorised into various sections as part of the first stage analysing for shortlisting required items to start with.

Putting down categories to make the basic site map.


Card Sorting

Cards were made representing various categories from the basic site map. These cards were then given to different kinds of users to learn different user flows, preferences and their priorities. Various Site maps were created accordingly and studied to understand the users.

User Persona

According to the understanding made from the card sorting process from various users, three user personas were made. These personas were made studying the basic user characteristics and acted as the fundamentals for the final user navigation route and site mapping.

Final layouts were made in Photoshop as per the web dimensions. Once finalized, these illustrations and layouts are to be uploaded with decided interactions in the wireframe.
