Q: Why do the lip balms contain mineral oil?

A: The lip balms are not tanning accelerators since the skin on our lips does not tan but burns. This area requires ingredients that will act as a moisture barrier to hold in the vitamin E, aloe and SPF 15.

Q: What would I sell a customer who has sensitive skin?

A: Devoted Creations tests all of its products thoroughly for sensitivity and irritation. However, some people have skin more sensitive than others. For those tanners, Devoted Creations has several products that are hypoallergenic. Please see the product section to identify these lotions.

Q: Why should a tanner purchase a moisturizer by Devoted Creations?

A: Mass market moisturizers contain alcohols and mineral oils which are damaging to the tan. Devoted Creations’ moisturizers are aloe based and therefore intensely hydrating. They will nourish the skin, extend the life of the tan, while also providing skin firming and anti-aging benefits.

Q: Why should a tanner use a facial product?

A: The skin on our face is much more delicate than on the rest of our bodies. It also naturally exfoliates at a much quicker rate. Facial products are specifically designed to be non-comedogenic, slow down the exfoliation process, and provide additional skin tightening and anti-aging benefits, while developing dark, long-lasting tanning results.

How they do it:

Utilizing various trademarked technologies such as Mela-Dark™, Mela-Glow™, Nouritan™ and a 5 Accelerator Complex – Devoted Creations products are able to develop fast, dark tanning results.

Things to know:

Pure lotions, in addition to various accelerators, also contain skin firming and anti-aging benefits.

Who they are designed for:

New tanners, lunch time tanners and those who just want a natural tan without the addition of bronzers or tingles.

CATEGORIES OF LOTION DHA Bronzers What they do:

Creates a tanned appearance on the skin within 2-3 hours of your tanning session and lasting approximately 5 to 7 days depending on the rate of exfoliation.

How they do it:

DHA reacts with amino acids on the outer layer of the skin to create a brownish color. Products containing DHA should be applied in even, circular motions. The palms of the hands and in between the fingers should be washed after application.

Things to know:

Most of Devoted Creations products contain a consistent level of DHA â&#x20AC;&#x201C; enough to create a tanned appearance but not too much where the tanner needs to be concerned about streaking or turning orange. There are a few products by Devoted that do contain higher levels of DHA and therefore, are more intense bronzer and should not be sold to the inexperienced tanner.

Who they are designed for:

Designed for advanced tanners who are looking to achieve the darkest tan imaginable. These are great for tanners who are looking for fast results.

Create a tanned appearance on the skin supplementing the natural tan â&#x20AC;&#x201C; this can be an immediate or a delayed reaction depending on the ingredient.

How they do it:

They slightly tint the skin imparting the color of the natural ingredient upon the skin.

Things to know:

Devoted Creations combines natural bronzers with DHA in many of its bronzing lotions to enhance the bronzed results. There are several bronzing lotions that contain more natural bronzers than others and there are a few products that solely contain natural bronzers.

Who they are designed for:

All tanners can benefit from natural bronzers. They work with DHA in certain products to intensify the results â&#x20AC;&#x201C; creating a more bronzed color. Products containing natural bronzers and no DHA are great for tanners who are looking for subtle results.

CATEGORIES OF LOTION Cosmetic Bronzers What they do:

Create immediate bronzed results on the skin.

How they do it:

Just like the name implies – cosmetic bronzers are a type of “make up”. They impart immediate color to the skin that washes off with water.

Things to know:

Devoted Creates uses cosmetic bronzers that deliver immediate bronzed results without a “paint-like” application or result. If any staining on clothing – or streaking should result, it can easily be washed off. The addition of a cosmetic bronzer is great for new tanners to learn how to apply lotion or for those wanting instant color. Devoted Creations makes products with just cosmetic bronzers, and those with a combination of cosmetic, DHA and/or natural bronzers.

Tanners who want subtle, immediate color.

CATEGORIES OF LOTION Tingle Products What they do:

Create an immediate reddening and warming sensation on the skin.

How they do it:

A combination of Benzyl and Methyl Nicotinates are used to create an increase in the microcirculation of the skin. The increase in circulation generates an increase in the oxygen output which results in a darker tan. The increase in blood flow results in a reddening effect as well as a “tingle” sensation.

Things to know:

Tingle products should NOT be used by inexperienced tanners, and the effects should be thoroughly explained to those new to using a tingle product. With that being said, tingle products are great for tanners that have reached a plateau and need help getting darker. Tingles should be spot tested on the inside of the arm for sensitivity and tolerance before being applied to the entire body during a tanning session. They can be used only on the legs to help achieve a more even looking tan for those whose legs do not tan as easily. Tingle products should NEVER be used on delicate facial skin and tanners should be informed that the “tingle effects” (ie: reddening and warming sensations) CAN BE TRANSFERRED to children and pets. If a tanner decides that the experience is too intense – they should be informed NOT to try to wash it off. The best course of action is to wait it out and apply a product designed to soothe the skin.

Who they are designed for:

Advanced tanners who are looking to go beyond the tanning plateau.

Create an increase in the microcirculation of the skin which results in a darker tan. Some tanners with sensitive skin might notice a slight reddening effect on the skin.

Things to know:

Blush products are designed for tanners that need help breaking through the tanning plateau, but do not enjoy the skin sensation that accompanies a tingle product.
