TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
TOURISM CORNER TDC promotes STAR service in T&T Whether someone is travelling to Trinidad and Tobago for business or pleasure, the level of customer service that a person receives will help determine whether he or she returns for another visit or cautions their family and friends to avoid the destination altogether. The reality is that customer service is often the single largest determining factor and therefore is the difference between a visitor choosing our destination as opposed to the many other available options. Recognizing that world travellers are not going to simply show up in Trinidad and Tobago without any pro-active efforts on our part, the Tourism Development Company through the Service. Training. Attitude. Respect. (STAR) Unit has designed two key programmes to emphasize the relationship between excellent customer service and a sustainable tourism product. Currently, the TDC is running a Hashtag Campaign filled with exciting local prizes entitled #tntisstarservice. Launched on August 01, the STAR Hashtag Campaign is developed to target social media users as well as engender a spirit of national pride among tourism practitioners. The Competition will run for over a three-month period and we will require the support of consumers like yourself to identify great customer service. All you have to do is share the information on our social media platforms and we will reward you for your participation as well as reward and recognise the tourism professional who would have provided the excellent service. The TDC also launched the STAR Tourism Caravan in June 2016 and like the Hashtag Campaign, the Caravan is specifically designed to stimulate lasting change in the service industry throughout Trinidad and Tobago and provides a deeper understanding of the need for consistent and quality service in Trinidad and Tobago. The first caravan rolled into the Gulf City Mall and then a week later on the Brian Lara Promenade, highlighting key tourism stakeholders while also offering career guidance and advice to persons interested in a career in the industry.
