Day 2 | Arrive in Amsterdam Arrive in Amsterdam and board our deluxe motorcoach to begin our explorations of a town known as the Venice of the North. Founded as a small fishing village in the late 12th century, Amsterdam became one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age. This afternoon, settle into your cabin onboard the Amadeus Silver III. This evening, join the group for a cocktail and a specially prepared welcome dinner. A Traditional Shanty Choir performance onboard makes this a perfect beginning to our journey. Meals: D

Day 3 | Amsterdam Tour / Canal Cruise / Flower Market After a restful night, board a motorcoach to see the sights of one of the most unique cities in Europe. The city center consists of 90 islands, linked by 400 beautiful bridges and a street pattern that is largely unchanged since the 19th century. On tour we will see the Royal Palace, the Museum Quarter, and we’ll also stop to stroll along the beautiful flower market. Enjoy a canal cruise through some of Amsterdam’s hundreds of canals and waterways that are lined with 17th-century architecture. The balance of the day is yours to explore on your own. Be sure to stop by the Oude Kerk (Old Church), the oldest building in the city or perhaps stop by the Anne Frank House. Tonight, enjoy a delicious dinner onboard after which the vessel departs Amsterdam. Meals: B, L, D

Day 4 | Arnhem / Airborne Museum Breakfast is served as the vessel arrives in the eastern part of the Netherlands. Arnhem is a bustling city offering a rich heritage. Our day will include a drive through the city known for the World War II battle operation called “Market Garden”. In September 1944, the British and the Polish were given the task of securing the bridge at Arnhem, a campaign captured in the movie “A Bridge Too Far”. You will drive past various spots associated with this event. We’ll also visit the Airborne Museum in Oosterbeek, once the headquarters of the British 1st Airborne Division. Back onboard, enjoy dinner as we cruise to the capital of Zeeland. Meals: B, L, D Amsterdam Day 5 | Middelburg Visit After a morning spent cruising the waterways, we arrive in the picturesque town of Middelburg. In the Golden Age (17th century), the Dutch East India Company flourished, evidenced by the merchant houses and storefronts that line the canals. For a feat of modern technology, you may choose to visit the impressive Delta Works. This expansive series of dams was built to protect the area against flooding and high tides. Several original windmills still stand on the outskirts of town, representing another innovative technology of a bygone era. Meals: B, L, D Day 6 | Ghent Touring Overnight, cross the border into Belgium and reach the city of Ghent, where your vessel will remain anchored for the day. Ghent is the country’s third-largest city and one of Belgium’s best-kept secrets with its rich heritage of medieval buildings. On tour today you will see the fortress “Gravensteen” which was built in the 12th century by the Count of Flanders after he returned from his crusades. Today, Gravensteen is one of the biggest moated castles within Europe. During the tour you will also walk through the beautiful city center and see the belfry, a medieval bell tower with 54 bells. Additionally, explore the St. Bavo’s Cathedral which houses an impressive number of art treasures including the baroque high altar in white, black, and red flamed marble. This evening, join your Day 7 | Antwerp Touring Wake up in this beautiful Belgian port city, one of the largest ports in the world. Famous for its diamond trade, Antwerp is also home to numerous cultural jewels. On our tour today, we’ll walk through the attractive old center of the city and visit the Cathedral of Our Lady, the largest Gothic church in Belgium. See paintings by the famous Baroque artist Peter Paul Rubens, including the Raising of the Cross and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Spend the afternoon in Antwerp following individual pursuits. This evening enjoy the Captain’s Gala Dinner. Meals: B, L, D

Ghent

Day 8 | Keukenhof Gardens / Rotterdam After cruising overnight we are back in the Netherlands. Rotterdam is a vibrant city with a strong maritime history and bold, modern architecture. Our included excursion today is a visit to one of Europe’s largest garden displays, the Keukenhof Gardens. This beautiful park features more tulips in flower than anywhere else in the world and is the showplace of the tulip growers of the Netherlands. Over 7 million bulbs are planted here annually! Round, oval, triangular, and rectangular borders line the park’s driveways. Stroll the pathways in the gardens to enjoy a cheerful ensemble of colors, shapes, and scents. Numerous sculptures also lurk between the flowerbeds showcasing the harmony between art and nature. Later this evening, the vessel sets off for its final port of call - Amsterdam.
