GPS Rowing Championships Competition Information

CONDUCT OF THE REGATTA: The conduct of the racing program on the day is the responsibility of the Head Referee. Please Note: The only motorized boats allowed on the Course are the Official boats.

LANES ! Lane allocations may be subject to the changed weather conditions on the course. ! The lane numbering system in Queensland was changed by Rowing Queensland in December 2010 when it was decided that a uniform numbering system would be introduced with all courses to be numbered Lane 1- 10 from the left hand side when looking down the course from the start line.

OBJECTIONS, PROTESTS OR GPS REVIEW ! The process for lodging Objections and Protests will be as per the Rowing Australia Rules. ! A GPS Review may be sought by member schools through their relevant GPS Sport and Activities Committee member and/ or the GPS Rowing Sub-Committee member. ! Reviews relating to matters which develop during the conduct of the regatta need to be requested as a matter of urgency, not later than fifteen (15) minutes after the result has been officially announced. ! Member schools should note that reviews during competition are not an alternative to pursuing a protest through boat race officials. Rather, matters within the purview of the officials should be dealt with accordingly, as outlined above (see Protests under Rowing Australia rules). Resulting outcomes and/or matters relating to fairness and the values and objectives of competition within the GPS Association may, from time to time, be the subject of a GPS Review. ! The GPS Executive Officer (GPS EO) is responsible for administering the procedures in the event of a review request. GPS Review Request Forms may be obtained from the GPS EO on the day of the Head of the River. ! Final results will not be valid and trophy presentations will not be made until the GPS EO announces the result of the review.

HELICOPTERS AND USE OF DRONES All external requests for media access to the event are to be directed through the GPS Executive Officer. The GPS does not sanction the use of helicopters or drones for the event without prior authorisation. Please note: 1. We will have to stop the racing if it is ‘unsafe’ and / or will disadvantage crews on the water, i.e. a drone overhead or in the proximity of crews and crowds. 2. CASA have regulations against flying over populated areas and sporting events and any person found to be in breach of these regulations will be reported. 3. RQ officials have been instructed that in the event of an unauthorised drone flying near the event area, they are to initiate a cessation of the regatta racing program until the craft is landed.

4. The GPS Association has approved the use of a Drone by Soutar Production to produce the 2022 Live streaming.
