Cutting with a Camera: To reproduce the style of collage using photography as the primarty medium. For this project I placed collaged slides infront of my subject and photographed though them, giving the impression of layers to my image. The hand holding the slides added yet another skin tone to the image as well as adding to the effect of collage by using another scale as of ten the hand was closer.

Mirrors have many uses and convey a multitude of messages, from vanity to another dimension, however the idea to use a mirror was to sharply cut the image by reflecting something else infront of Emily. I wanted textures to be reflected in the mirror to add both tonal value and overal texture to my images much like i would in my collages, the sharp edges of the mirror signifys the way I would cut up paper and layer them together.

“Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.
