Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor of Environments (Architecture) Melbourne University | March 2013 - December 2016 H2A Average

After working in the industry for the past 5 years in various capacities of design, documentation and strategy, I have refined what I look to facilitate in my practice of architectural design; In my work I strive to create artistic and inspiring architecture that tells a story through design which is sympathetic to the geography and history of its context. I am passionate about creating empathetic, community driven spaces with sustainable design and initiatives wherever possible. To that end, further developing my practice and growing my skill set is important to me. I have a strong work ethic, learn quickly and relish working in a team, learning from those around me.

Founded ‘Women in Architecture’ | Melbourne University Life Drawing RMIT University | 2016 Life Drawing Julien Ashton Art School Sydney | 2012 Outside of architecture, I also love curating, industrial design and the visual arts. I have previously attended art school.

2 EXPERIENCE Architectural Graduate (part time) LOOP Architecture | Sept 2019 Construction documentation, town planning documentation, design work, liaison directly with consultants, clients, etc. Architectural Graduate (full time) DKO Architecture | 2017-2019 Worked predominantly on concept design, competition entries and documenting projects through town planning using Archicad, rhino, Photoshop and Illustrator. I critiqued the Melbourne University DKO studio presentations as a recurrent guest. I also ran in-office presentations with speakers from adjacent industries (furniture designers, art instillation companies, sustainability specialists etc). Architectural Assistance (part time) Rashes Ashram | 2017 Assisted in 3D Architectural Modeling - Revit Plan alteration - Revit Submitting council applications and documentation. Architectural Assistance (part time) James Wilkinson | 2015- 2016 Assisted in alteration of plans - AutoCAD 3D computational modeling - Sketch up 3D conceptual modeling - Rhino 5

3 PROFESSIONAL SKILLS Most of my experience in practice has been driven by my stronger skills in concept design, visualisation, planning, and communication. Elements of these front-end skills have led me to refine my processes in precedent research, planning and presentations. I have experience in presenting and preparing visual presentations for to/for clients and stakeholders in the design process. To that end, I work well under pressure and pick up computer software quickly.

FURTHER EDUCATION + SKILLS

5

ONGOING I am planning to enroll in my Master’s degree mid way through at the start of / mid way through 2021. I currently also have a small artistic practice on the side (painting and drawing).

CITY WELLNESS FACILITY MELBOURNE CBD STUDIO FIRE | THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE

vi. CITY WELLNESS FACILITY | MIXED USE | MELBOURNE CBD

vi.

A MIXED-USE CITY WELLNESS FACILITY DRAWS INSPIRATION FROM BOTH THE URBAN LANDSCAPE, AND THE CALMING AND HEALING PROPERTIES OF BIOPHILIC DESIGN This multi-purpose development was to house a restaurant, kitchen and cool room, bar, plant room, parking facilities, storage, offices, teaching and conference spaces, a gallery, a lounge, hotel suites, an architecture office, a wellness centre and multiple therapy rooms. Materiality, atmosphere, light and circulation were key factors in the project which drew inspiration from both the existing urban environment and its potential to be a place of healing as an urban refuge. This dynamic relationship is reflected on a sliding scale taking into consideration the public vs. private requirements of the programs as the user ventures further the building. The Therme Vals by Peter Zumpthor acted as an important precedent.

“HANGING OUT” DIGHT FALLS HANGING GARDENS ABBOTSFORD | MELBOURNE STUDIO AIR | THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE 2015

vii. “HANGING OUT” | PARAMETRIC DESIGN | MELBOURNE

vii.

A PARAMETRICALLY DESIGNED STRUCTURE THAT UTILIZES PREFABRICATION TECHNIQUES AS A RESPONSE TO MATERIALITY AND CLIMATE The project is a canopy of hanging planters designed to act as a meeting place in the parkland along the Yarra trail. It focuses on sustainable construction and uses bamboo and recycled plywood as the primary materials. The instillation can be designed and constructed locally over a short period time and requires minimal effort to install. The project was generated using the parametric modeling plug-in Grasshopper for Rhino 5. The form of the frame was determined through extensive material experimentation with bamboo. The size and depth of the hanging planters were determined using climate and sunlight analysis from the chosen site. They can be altered across the structure to best fit the needs of the chosen plant species. This information form the parameters of the parametric design.

SELF-BUILT REFUGEE COMMUNITY CENTRE MAYUKWAYUKWA | ZAMBIA SUSTAINABILITY IN DEVELOPING COMMUNITIES + ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS | THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE 2016

viii. REFUGEE COMMUNITY CENTRE | COMPETITION ENTRY | ZAMBIA

viii.

A SELF-BUILT REFUGEE COMMUNITY CENTRE THAT UTILIZES THE LIMITED AVAILABLE MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION METHODS This scheme was completed as part of a competition entry for the organization Engineers Without Borders. The design had to take into consideration the limited resources and construction knowledge available in the township. It seeks to utilize sustainable, termite resistant building materials that can be up-cycled as the project progresses. A successful design required extensive background research to understand the culture and needs of the community in order to create a design that facilitates a sense of ownership and a place to allows its users to rebuild a sense of identity, safety and belonging. The suggested outcome offers a variety options that can be adapted based on what is available. The “five fingered” floor plan seeks to create flexibility in the space allowing it to be used by groups of varying sizes with varying needs.
