UNRAVELED / Things that are seen as a whole become more complicated when they are taken apart. By doing so, one is able to discover something that they may have not seen before the object was disassembled. Each piece of work within the collection of Unraveled acts as small hints as to what my character is as a whole. As a graphic designer I am an individual, but there are many different things that set me apart from others, and that is what makes me complete. Through selected works of mine, people are able to view the many different sides of me, as each project encounters a particular topic or subject. This portfolio presents the embodiment of my character through graphic design.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION / The objective of The Nature of Identity is structured around the principles of identity design and the elusive craft of branding. Through the semester long process, the course explored brand history, culture and symbolism to review the life of a brand—from its apex to its downfall. After investigating the core soul of the brand, the goal was to design a brand new system of identity according to the conducted research.
Ashes can resurrect, classic stories can be retold. Course Hunter Wimmer Nature of Identity Disciplines Identity Website Concept Outcomes Self Development Luxury Male Enpowering
CONCEPT / TSI is the2016 rebranding of The Sharper Image, a company that announced Spring bankruptcy in the 90s. The soul of TSI represents the dream of every man—to look stylish and impress others with what they wear. The direction of its rebirth is focused on the idea that seeing is not believing. There is always a part of a man that no one else understands, which will not show on something he owns, but rather something he has within. Attractiveness is more than just looks; it exposes ones true character from the inside.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION / In Experimental Typography, every project obtains an abstract but essential background. The components of this 32-page book are primarily based on personal experiences from a daily routine. The experience could be mental and/or physical. For example, the place where someone lives or a book they might like. The perspective of this project is based on the well-known fairy tale written by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen, The Little Mermaid.
To live forever or to love eternally? Course Stan Zienka Experimental Typography Disciplines Photography Editorial Print Concept Outcomes Experience Storytelling Expression
CONCEPT / The Little2015 Mermaid is a tragic story about a young mermaid who is Spring willing to give up her voice and fishtail in exchange to become a human. She is hoping to be able to fall in love with her beloved prince who she saved from a shipwreck. At the end of the story, her wish did not come into fruition; nevertheless, she chose to sacrifice herself instead of killing the prince so she could stay alive. When revisiting this story as an adult, it turns out to have a different meaning from what is initially read as a child—it displays the dilemmas and complications that people suffer and struggle within love. Devotion comes and goes, but what is really eternal?

PROJECT DESCRIPTION / The Transformation of Vernacular Communication focused on the intentions of a particular message. For instance, businesses put on advertisements or signs in its store to convey a sale or clearance. The project involved the selection of a sign created by a company as long as the sign contained more than three levels of intention. The project evaluated a sign from a local vinyl store, and through its content and context its core message was determined through the hierarchy on the sign. Completion of the project involved generating a brand new verbal and visual identity and visual system that combined the design elements together.
The steps you need to know. Spring 2014
CONCEPT / Rooky Ricardo’s Records is a local vinyl store located in Lower-Haight, San Francisco. The company hung up a sign to indicate what is the correct and proper way to view a vinyl record in the store. The intentions were categorized into different layers, and used to development various deliverables that served to fulfill those intentions. After considering the current style as well as the history of the store, a new visual system was developed to correspond to the records store’s intentions.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION / Visual thinking provides students an opportunity to take a closer look into society to get to know what is happening in the world and what is affecting people’s lives. Many issues occur around the world on a daily basis—some of them are far away while some of them are local. However, these issues could both evoke a persons mind to push him or her to make some changes. For instance, one in eight middle-aged women in the United States has depression, which means that women ages 40 to 59 have the highest rate of depression (12.3 percent) of any group based on age and gender in the U.S., according to the report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This set of information was used to develop the concept of this project—The Fold.
Take your family back. CONCEPT / Course Sandra Isla Visual Thinking Disciplines Visual System Editorial Print Concept Environment Outcomes Depression Family Health Organization
The Fold aims to support family members of individuals who are clinically depressed. It focused on family members as well as the patients of depression. People who suffer from depression often require their relative’s help in order to control the condition. The goal of The Fold Fall 2014 is to help family members face depression and reduce the difficulty of communication with the patients. Depression is a mental condition that affects both patients and those who take care of them. Factors that cause depression are complicated and can be difficult to determine. Middle-aged women have the highest rate of depression. Depression is not an illness that can be controlled easily by taking medications alone, and the stress could break down the whole family. To treat depression, both patients and involved individuals should take interaction with other people. The Fold focused on how to improve communication between families and patients.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION / The objective in Music Interpretation Parameters is to visualize a song through typography, graphics and imagery. A chosen song was to be displayed though the collection of materials and manipulating their image through a projector. Projected images of those materials yielded a variation of results, including wide ranges of colors, shadows, and highlights of the specified materials. Course Stan Zienka Experimental Typography Disciplines Photography Editorial Print Concept Outcomes Experience Storytelling Expression
“You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince. Spring 2015 by E.L. James, Fifty Shades of Grey CONCEPT / To create metaphors and visuals for the song by Ellie Goulding-Love Me Like You Do from the movie Fifty Shades of Grey. A feather was chosen to represent the soft and light feeling of the song. The projected images of the feather were used to develop a visual style that reinforced the overall tone of the song.
