A Note from Nehemiah Build Back Better

Build back better! This was Nehemiah’s note to Jews before it was the campaign catchphrase of Democratic Presidential Nominee Joe Biden. These three words are powerful and can propel you from your stance that you took to be reset ready to rev yourself up and begin again. Build back better is the perfect clarion call that can give you the boost to build a better you and to become all that God has destined for your life. Nehemiah broke down and cried when he found out that there were still no walls surrounding Jerusalem (Nehemiah 1:4). But he didn’t stay in that broken state. He boosted himself up and decided to build the walls back. You, too, can build yourself back again to be better, bolder, and can become bountifully blessed. Begin today to make up your mind to build back better and you are bound to be blessed of the Lord.

To b uild back better you need balance. Balance is the beginning of setting a solid foundation for your life. This is your moment to start your mission to get back the balance of your mind, body, and spirit. You have to find the time to spend with the Lord to create a continuous communication regimen. Get your body aligned with your rebuild by exercising regularly, eating well, and getting proper rest. Your mindset will fall in place and you will be able to dismantle any doubts you may experience during the daily renewal of your mind. This will better position you to dismiss the doubts that try to destroy your destiny of building back better.

To build back better you have to go beyond the barriers. Many obstacles will come to try to interrupt your process but proceed anyway. Nehemiah faced opposition on his mission to build the walls of Jerusalem back, but he did not get distracted, but he dealt with it with prayer (Nehemiah 4:1-9). Even in the mist of the opposition, he did not retreat but instead he had the confidence that God had his back when he poured out his heart and prayed so he kept pushing.

To build back better you have to bombard God with your prayers. You have to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Nehemiah was a man on a mission, and he made sure that no matter what he faced his first move was to pray and seek the Lord for protection, provision, and help to fulfill his purpose. Nehemiah was confident in the fact that God would bless his plans when he prayed. Nehemiah knew that his help came from the Lord. Prayer was always a part of Nehemiah’s plan to build the walls of Jerusalem back. God hears your prayers and wants to propel you to push past your fears and to build back better.

To b uild back better you have to believe God. God wants to restore to you the days, months, and even years that were ruined (Joel 2:25). He can give you double the blessings for all that you have been through (Isaiah 61:7). With rebuilding comes renewal and the result of renewal is restoration. Building back better allows you to mend all of your mistakes. Restoration reveals a “better than the original” result. Building back better puts you in proper position to be ready to reap the harvest of bountiful blessings that the Lord promised to you.

When you build back better you can e xpect God to exceed your expectations (Ephesians 3:20). To everyone’s surprise, the walls of Jerusalem were built back in 52 days (Nehemiah 6:15). This was the result of Nehemiah’s leadership, love for prayer, and a made-up mind to put in the work to build back better. God is waiting for you on the other side of your construction to build back better. Building back better will unleash loads of blessings and lead you to unexpected levels. Nehemiah’s note is a nudge for you to build back better!
