All of the content herein has been assembled with you in mind. We want you to know that you are an important part of the Loyola community, and that there are a wealth of services and resources available to you which you may not have considered as an undergraduate, whether you attended Loyola or another university.

You may have completed your last degree only months ago, or perhaps it has been decades since you last attended a college. Regardless, we recognize that graduate study will likely be a time of increased focus for you. You may be challenged to effectively balance time between academics, career, family, or other relationships. Perhaps you need to acclimate to a new housing situation, a new academic discipline, or even a new country.

While graduate study can often feel like a solitary endeavor, please know that you are not alone. You will find many resources within this handbook to help you succeed academically, to feel more a part of Loyola, and to help you know “ where to go for what.

Whether you are new or continuing at the university, please consider this publication to be your invitation to visit or contact any of the departments listed within. Consider, too, becoming involved with the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) in some way. As a graduate student, you are already a member of the GSO. Please visit www.loyola.edu/gso or www.loyola.edu/gradfriday for more information and our monthly newsletter.

Here’s to a successful academic year for you!

Sincerely,

Mark Lee Director, Technology and Graduate Student Services mslee@loyola.edu
