BRIDGE PARK Regeneration for the 21st Century This vibrant green space of Bridge Park will regenerate and activate Leeds South Bank. It’s innovative design connects the north and south of the city, creating new neighbourhoods and enhancing existing ones. The name refers to the origins of the city. Leeds grew from the wool traders who would sell their goods on the bridge crossing the River Aire, now known as Leeds Bridge. The city was also central to the industrial revolution, with the LeedsLiverpool Canal connecting the east and west coasts. Bridge Park also refers to the first moving image film, which was recorded on Leeds Bridge in 1888. The city has always been about connection, engagement, trade and innovation. This park takes these themes into the 21st Century and combines relevance and resilience with the spirit of the city and it’s river. A variety of spaces offer a diversity of experiences and redefine the idea of the city park. These include: • Waterfront Boulevard • Edible Urban Forests • Art Gallery and Event Space • Stormwater Wetlands • Urban Farm Schools • Plaza Skatepark • Retail, Business and Leisure Developments • Flexible Spaces for Markets and Festivals This is a space to escape, explore and experience. Whether you are looking for peace and quiet or nightlife, education or entertainment, wildlife or community events, Bridge Park has something for everyone.
