THE POTTERROW GALLERY
taking inspiration from the initial
research at the start of the year, the project draws on themes and forms from the work of richard serra and the kunsthaus in graz. the combination of the two resulted in a sweeping curve as the main facade
- an exaggerated
form of the existing graffiti wall that plays with the viewers perceptions.

This is the first gallery encountered with both the lift and sweeping stairs bringing visitors to this space first. Guests are faced with a view straight out to the University’s Old College and the developed space by the underpass. Square in plan, the space is expected to be used for sculpture or traditional wall based art. The fact there is only one glazed element allows for the gallery to be converted to a black box if needed.

SECONDARY GALLERY SPACE
The second gallery takes on a rather unorthodox shape and is this time top-lit with two skylights running the length of the space. There is also a near-full height window at the end of the gallery that looks onto the roof of the private studios. Again this space is a mixed use between sculpture and wall-based artwork. There is a secondary set of stairs that lead back down to the reception area here.
