“A Charitable Confection” is an annual chic bake sale and cocktail party, hosted by popular desserts/baking blog “Grandbaby Cakes”, that is geared towards raising funds for a worthy cause. The event provides an opportunity to showcase Chicago’s top bakeries and pastry chefs’ treats in a stylish soirée while also creating awareness and generating support for a charity.
In its inaugural year, proceeds from “A Charitable Confection” 2014 will benefit Project Orange Tree. Project Orange Tree is an awareness organization that focuses on educating youth about violence and its roots (structural violence). It is completely ran by teens of Chicago through the Lupe Fiasco Foundation. The color orange is used because hunters wear the color to warn other hunters not to shoot. They took that same concept and applied it to the violence in Chicago. They used the tree because it represents both life and shelter.
“A Charitable Confection” offers a truly integrated marketing partnership for select brands to associate with philanthropic organizations and connect with a distinguished, targeted audience.
What: A Charitable Confection is set to become the most trend-forward food event in Chicago. Approximately 300 guests will enjoy desserts from the city’s top bakeries and industry experts. Who: A demographic of culturally engaged trend-setters and tastemakers between the ages of 25-45. Invited guests will include local celebrities, socialites, media, top culinary talents, dessert enthusiasts, foodies, and popular bloggers. Why: Funds raised will go speficially towards a new project called “Project Oasis”. Through this endeavor, Project Orange Tree will purchase land in the urban areas of Chicago to transform into community gardens in food deserts and peaceful areas for surrounding youth.
