POST OVERSEED

Brandon Dougherty, PGA

Director of Golf I am excited to be joining such a great team and extraordinary community at The Grand. My golf journey began at Desert Springs in 1998 as a high schooler working Outside Services. As I went on to ASU I stayed in the golf business at clubs like Gold Canyon Golf Resort, Whisper Rock, Coldwater, & an internship at White Eagle Country Club in Naperville, IL. After graduating I pursued a career in golf which led me to General Manager positions in Kansas City & Omaha before returning home to manage The Legend at Arrowhead & Stonecreek Golf Club for the past nine years. On a personal note, I am happily married to my wife who is an Optometrist at Midwestern University. You can find us on evenings and weekends attending numerous sports practices or games for our two young daughters. In our spare time we are cheering on any of the Arizona professional sports teams and, of course, playing the great game of golf. I look forward to utilizing my experiences to serve this great community.

playing tips

It is that time of year again and the courses will be reopening from overseed soon. Here are a couple things to note after overseed takes place: n The playing conditions will be slow, soft, and damp. n Use a more lofted club off the tee in order to maximize your carry distance. n Use less bounce on your wedges as the turf underneath the ball has not developed. n Move the ball forward in your stance when putting or use a putter with more loft on it in order to get the ball rolling. n With the green speeds slower than usual, you should play less break on putts. The Grand courses tentative closure dates for Overseed:

GRANITE FALLS NORTH:

October 1st – October 21st (cart path only until November 9th)

GRANITE FALLS SOUTH:

October 3rd – October 23rd (cart path only until November 11th)

CIMARRON:

October 11th – October 31st (cart path only until November 19th)

DESERT SPRINGS:

October 15th – November 4th (cart path only until November 23rd)

Thank you Brandon Dougherty, PGA
