SPACE Space is the area around or between elements in a design. It can be used to separate or group information. Use it effectively to; give the eye a rest; define importance; lead the eye through a design and more.
8 ISSUE 08
A line is a mark between two points. There are various types of lines, from straight to squiggly to curves and more. Lines can be used for a wide range of purposes; stressing word or phrase, connecting contents to one another, creating patterns and much more
COLOR
LINE
Color is used to generate emotions, define importance, and create visual interest and more. CMYK (cyan/magenta/yellow/black) is subtractive. RGB (red/green/blue) is additive.
SHAPES
Some colors are warm and active (orange, red), some are cool and passive (blue/purple)
Height+width=shape. We all learned basic shapes in grade school- triangles, squares, circles, and rectangles. Odd or lesser seen shapes can be used to attract attention There are three basic types of shapes: geometric (triangles, squares, circles, etc.)., natural (leaves, animals, trees, people), and abstracted (icons, stylizations, graphic representation, etc).
There are various color types (primary analogous) and relationships (monochromatic to triad) worth learning more about as well.
VALUE
TEXTURE Value is how light or dark an area looks like. A gradient shown below, is a great way to visualize value- everything from a dark to white, the shades-in-between, has a value. Use value to create depth and light; to create a pattern, to lead the eye; or to emphasize
Texture relates to the surface of an object; the look or feel of it. Concrete has a rough texture; drywall has a smooth and subtle texture. Using texture in design is a great way to add depth and visual interest. Printed material has actual textile texture while screen material has implied texture.
SIZE
Size is how small or large something is; a small shirt vs. an extra-large shirt, for example. Use size to define importance, create visual interest in a design (via contrasting sizes), and attract attention and more.

I once dreamed spending my entire existence preaching; enlightening people. But the results wasn’t coordinating as I took the entrance examination. I suppose I’ll see myself on the press. Besides, I’ve worked up since elementary on the school publication until today. That’ll be enough, I guess. But I’m cool with where fate will bring me.

WORDS TO LEAVE BY FOR THE ASPIRING YOUNG ARTIST Like everybody else’s saying, practice makes perfect. Have the eye for the details, and do some reading too. Knowledge + experience is a great combo. Keep following your heart. Not your parent’s nor someone else. I’ll tell you, it’s the heart for art that counts. There’s always time for everything. Don’t say you don’t have the tools, it doesn’t need to be luxurious for starters. Start from scratch until someone discovers, gives you tools, then opportunities. Have atleast a weekly artwork, please.
Books
Food
Then that day came, I had to choose what my future career will be, so I went through and found exactly the course having almost all aspects I want to learn. I crossed bodies of water, miles-far islands, settled, went to school, got motivated even then kept feeding my heart for art. WHAT WOULD YOU BE TODAY BESIDES BEING AN ARTIST?
Winner |Photojournalism PSPC, Dipolog City |Sept.
Writing
Being an artist wasn’t on my vocabulary until the end of secondary years came, actually. I am only fond of watching my older brother work his photo manipulation when I was in grade school. My early exposure to the web had helped me a lot. I used to surf around, watch tutorials (thanks to youtube by the way),had few creations during my early years in high school which I can take pride of.
