THERE HAVE BEEN MANY MOMENTS to remember during our first decade as Grand Square International. Few have left us with a higher sense of pride than our recent invitation to become a part of the historic and prestigious New England Square Dance Foundation Archives. While we continue the work of many dedicated and great Americans who have served their community and country by way of fellowship these last three centuries, it is just now that we have reached a pinnacle where our work stands—in some small way currently— among those who have carried the activity across a wonderful, storied span of time. Our first thought, is that we hope to have another decade which might be as rich and rewarding with friendships and fine people who share our common cause. Our next thought, was a fair bit more complicated. With this new honor, what would we offer to the New England Square Dance
Would you like to review “10”? Editions will be available for review at our offices and we will be glad to share it with you personally at GSI Events or wherever GSI attends.
Foundation Archives that would be an appropriate and rise to the occasion of such an honor? Our decision was a new archive book we titled simply “10 - The First Decade”. This volume outlines our humble beginnings and treks alongside us as we face challenges, failure and success. Creating “10” has provided us with an introspective on our efforts. We’re hoping it will be illustrative for the reader and in some small way inspire current or future generations of individuals to lead organizations small or large in their charge to preserve square dancing. We thank all involved for recognizing that each of us at GSI have made a notable difference in our charge.

Who we are... Grand Square International Grand Square International is a Charlotte, North Carolina based 501 (c) 3 non-profit company, which began with the charge of “Preserving and Protecting, the Great American Heritage of Square Dancing” a decade ago. We’ve accomplished a lot in those ten short years. Here’s a short list of some of the initiatives:
