HEAD COACH RESPONSIBILITIES

As the Head Coach of your assigned sport, you are responsible for the growth and health of the program, from elementary athletic camp involvement, to Varsity teams competing for State Championships.

Scheduling

PRE-SEASON TEAM SET UP

Schedule and confirm all games.

You must adhere to blackout calendar when scheduling

Confirm with opposing coaches

Confirm with official chapters

Put games/practices in FMX

Organize transportation (through athletic office only)

Be mindful of the following early release policy as well as any major events as indicated on our school calendar

Do not exceed TWO early releases aside from required District play and one tournament

All releases must be approved through the high school or junior high administration’s office and must be requested two weeks prior to the event

Submit your schedule for approval to the athletic office prior to publishing on RankOne

Ensure that the athletic office has a complete roster, in alphabetical order, (including jersey numbers if possible) at least one week before the first game.

Ensure schedule is on all platforms (RankOne, TeampApp)

Ensure rosters are on all platforms (RankOne, BlackBaud)

Ensure that all athletes are eligible through RankOne

Organize and execute pre-season parent meetings.

Enlist, train, and provide sufficient parent game day volunteers.

Determine the number of players to make a team. If cuts are required, the Head Coach MUST set up a meeting with the AD to discuss (high school teams only).

All uniform/gear check out and check in should be coordinated with Rae Williams in a timely manner.

Team gear stores may be set up through approved vendors

All gear must follow branding guidelines (school colors, logos, etc )

Read through TAPPS By-Laws and know the out-of-season player and practice restrictions

Officials

Confirm officials’ organization for the season.

Verify organization is TAPPS approved (TAPPS By-Laws)

Ensure that officials’ organization has a complete and correct season schedule for your team(s).

Notify organization of any date changes.

Clear officials' organization through Athletic Department to ensure payment
