RETREATS RECAP

GFCS retreats are a hallmark of the fall semester. Beginning in 6th grade, our students travel together to experience community and to foster leadership skills. In September, our 6th graders visited Glen Lake Camp for a camping adventure complete with s’mores, swimming, fishing, and a special time of worship for sons and fathers around a campfire. Also in September, the 7th grade class traveled to Sky Ranch for a trip back in Texas history to discover Native American and ranch life. Each night, 7th grade students planned and led worship. In October, the 8th grade class headed north to the Wichita Mountain Refuge center for hiking and team building activities. In a special activity, students were able to visit a replica of Jerusalem and discuss Jesus’ command to follow Him. This retreat also gives our high school juniors a unique opportunity to plan and to lead junior high students. Seven high school juniors joined our 8th graders this year. At the high school level, our freshmen traveled together to Impact Ranch in October. They worshiped together and spent quality time around a bonfire. This retreat is also largely planned by the senior class. The 10th and 11th graders visited Camp T Bar M on Lake Travis in late September. Like the freshmen retreat, seniors plan and lead the retreat. Students began their time with Faith Gives service projects and then spent retreat in devotional studying, worship, or time together. Planning and leading, our senior class was able to selflessly serve at the high school retreats. For them, this was one of their final opportunities to come together as the Class of 2023 and worship and pray together. It was also a time to set the tone for their senior year.

THE REASON FOR THE SEASON The annual Elementary Christmas Program was held this past Friday. Entitled, The Greatest Truth, this year's program was spectacular. Click here to view a recap video, the program in its entirety and/or to view the photo gallery. Enjoy!
