DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE KEVIN MITCHELL

Director, Grapevine Parks and Recreation KMitchell@grapevinetexas.gov Welcome to the Fall issue of the Go Grapevine Magazine. First off, we thank you for your patience as Grapevine Lake, yet again, flooded this summer, leaving a lot of the lake parks inaccessible. Staff worked diligently to make sure all efforts were made to quickly open as many parks as possible, while keeping the public safe. On an exciting note, the launch of our new registration software, Amilia, is finally here. During the planning and execution of Grapevine Parks & Recreation’s new Master Plan, one of the most requested and discussed topics from residents was the registration process for our events, programs, and classes. This software is completely new and different than anything we’ve ever had before. Navigating on our site, GoGrapevine.com, is much simpler, quicker and will ease the registration and check-out process significantly. We cannot wait for you to experience this new and improved software. We hope you are pleased! To add to the excitement, we have revamped our upcoming fall events and created something new for the whole family to enjoy. Join us for Sunset Live at the Gardens happening Thursday, October 3 through Saturday, October 5. You won’t want to miss this threeday, FREE live music fest. We will have VIP packages for purchase and a kids activities area to entertain. Later this fall, the inaugural Halloween Bash at the newly renovated BOO-tanical Gardens will be on Saturday, October 26. This eclectic celebration brings live entertainment, family activities, savory foods and costumes! Last but not least, the highly-anticipated Carol of Lights on Main Street will be on Monday, November 25. This show will be the best one yet with spectacular light shows, live performances and much more! For park developments, stay tuned for a grand opening date for Bear Creek Dog Park at GoGrapevine.com/DogPark. The recent delay was due to setbacks out of our control. Thanks to our parks crew, the park has come together quickly in the past few months. We appreciate your patience with this project. The newly-renovated Oak Grove Softball Complex will also be revealed very soon, stay tuned at GoGrapevine.com/ParkDev for all updates and Grand Opening details. As always, please follow us on social media @GoGrapevine to stay connected to your local Parks and Recreation Department. All of us here cannot wait for you to experience all things new this fall/winter season in Grapevine Parks & Recreation!

TESTIMONIAL A change in my life happened approximately 7 years ago; I became a widow. I moved in with my son and his family in this great City of Grapevine. Although it was a sad time for me, the happiness of family, new friends, and the Active Adults at The REC of Grapevine became my new exciting life! Recently I started taking the Tap into Fitness and Fun tap class. It is bringing back so many fond memories and it is so much fun! I would love to see more Seniors take this class as it is helping with my balance and coordination, as well as making cardio fun again! I am also in the Ceramics class which is great, especially for a person with two left hands! The REC of Grapevine has great teachers, great courses, and it is definitely great fun! Change your life like I did and join The REC!
