THE REC SUMMER CAMP

This is the best way to spend your summer. Campers are led in multiple activities planned for them each week by REC sta . Campers will also be able to swim in our indoor Aquatic Center M-W-F of each week. Registration will be weekly and will coincide with GCISD summer break. Get ready for a great summer!

*Meet-the-sta night will be held Thursday, May 25, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at The REC of Grapevine. Parents and campers can come meet the camp sta and find out what to expect over the summer. Parents can also fill out camper information forms and pick up their camp T-shirt.

REC EXCURSION CAMP

This camp is designed for the adventurer inside every one of us, taking participants on a di erent excursion every day. Please have your camper at the location of the excursion 15 to 20 minutes before the start so that they can be checked in. Campers need to wear appropriate attire for each day. Space will be limited, so register early. Get ready for a week of adventure and fun!

CRUSH IT!

Crush It! is DFW’s first interactive sports simulator. Campers will be able to compete in 15+ sports and games, all in air conditioning. Compete against the computer, a timer, or against friends in head-to-head, life-size games! You will be able to play baseball, golf, dodgeball, soccer, football, and more!

KAYAKING

Kayaking is a fast-growing and diverse sport that all ages can learn and enjoy. In this one-day adventure, campers will learn the basic strokes of kayaking to move in every direction. Water safety will also be taught throughout the day. All boats, life jackets, and paddles will be provided. Please wear appropriate attire for getting wet.

PADDLEBOARDING

This intro to stand-up paddleboarding will provide you with basic techniques needed to safely paddle, stand up, and balance. You will learn turning, sculling, drawing and multiple paddle techniques. In addition, we will discuss board selecting and paddle sizing. You will leave the lesson with all the skills necessary to paddle with confidence. Please wear appropriate attire.

DFW ADVENTURE PARK –LASER COMBAT

Campers will be competing in games of outdoor Laser Tag. Outdoor Laser Combat has all the same thrills and action as paintball, but it’s completely painless! The technology in our Laser Tag guns also means that it is not possible to cheat like you can with paintball, making Laser Combat a painless and fair game of action

and fun. Campers will meet at The REC of Grapevine and be transported to DFW Adventure Park.

DOVE WATERPARK

Dove Waterpark o ers two slides, a diving board, a lily pad crossing, rock climbing wall, and a zero-depth entry, perfect for all swimmers. Campers will get a chance to swim along with friends at one of our wonderful pools. Lunch will be provided.

Tennis camps are o ered weekly throughout the summer at Dove Park Tennis Courts. Registration will open Wednesday, March 1. For more tennis information contact Austin Wynne at 214.668.1619.

YOUTH BASEBALL & SOFTBALL CAMPS Grapevine Parks and Recreation has partnered with Chabriel Pizarro from Furia to o er skills clinics throughout the summer at the Oak Grove Baseball Complex! Grapevine’s baseball and softball skill camps consist of individualized training that focuses on positionspecific instruction as well as the mental and physical mechanics of the game. Camp drills are designed to perfect hitting, fielding, throwing, bunting, and base running. Baseball camp includes two days out of the week for a full session, or you can attend by drop-in for a specific day. Softball camp consists of one-day camp sessions per month.

ART CAMP

During this camp, students will learn to mix colors and work with watercolors and acrylic paints as a group, directed by the instructor. Subjects such as flowers, landscapes, and animals will be drawn and painted.

GLAMOUR GIRL

Spend a week creating your own beauty products! You will learn to make your own lip balm, nail polish, fancy bath soap, bath bombs, and more. Students will create their own specialized shades and scents. Additionally, each day will begin by learning a new creative nail polish technique. Students will learn nail polish art on their toes (please wear open-toe shoes). Supplies are included.

DESIGNING DOLLS

Create your own personalized dolls while learning the craft of hand sewing. In this class, students make a cloth doll, a flip doll, and a cloth bag to carry the projects in. You will be able to individually decorate both dolls with hair, painting the face, and designing and sewing the clothes. All sewing is hand stitching; this class does not use

sewing machines. Supplies are included.

SUPERHERO VS SUPER VILLAIN SCIENCE CAMP

THE GAMING ACADEMY

The Gaming Academy is an all-day course for students who love games. Students will be immersed into the world of 2D and 3D game design. The Gaming Academy is a combination of our Video Game Design, Advanced Game Design, and 3D Game Design courses. Students are required to bring a sack lunch.

WEB AND APP DESIGN

This class o ers students a hands-on look at the world of app and web design. This interactive course will instruct students about the world of design and development of websites and applications. Students will design their own website and app that they can share with their friends and family.

GAME CREATORS NEW!

Want to create video games? This is an introductory course for younger students who want to learn to build simple video games. This course combines the art of video game design and animation to create interactive characters that fly around the screen. Amaze your friends and family with your fun interactive games.

GAMING AND CODING NEW!

This course combines two unbelievable experiences in gaming and coding. Students spend the morning taking an interactive look at coding and building virtual apps. In the afternoon, they build simple video games, combining the arts of video game design and animation to create interactive characters

around the screen. Students are required to bring a sack lunch.

CODING STUDIO

This course o ers younger students a fun, interactive look at coding. Students will create virtual apps and write their own programs. This course makes learning to code fun and explores problem solving and programming.

ARCADE GAMES: ESPORTS

This class gives students a look at online game development and puts them in the driver’s seat of simple game creation. Students will develop online games including arcade-style, platform, and other interactive games that they can publish and share online. Students will also use their games in an eSport setting and complete like real gamers.

ROBLOX STUDIO-PROGRAMMING AND GAME DEVELOPMENT

Calling all ROBLOX users! Join in with millions of gamers and immerse yourself in your own 3D world! ROBLOX Studio is a 3D-based program that uses physics, LUA programming, and individual creativity to build a world around you and your avatar.

This course will guide students through concepts such as beginner physics, LUA programming, and game development. Students in this course will build and publish their game to share with friends and family!

MOVIE MAKERS

This hands-on, interactive course will instruct students in the world of digital video design and production. Students will film, direct, and edit their own digital video creations. Students enrolled in this course amaze their peers with green screen and special e ects work.

ROBOTICS-BATTLE BOTS NEW!

This course o ers hands-on opportunities to build and program robots. Working in small teams, students will design robotics systems to compete in fun real-world activities. Each day will bring a new challenge, and your team’s robot will have to morph to better adapt and compete. Students will compete in the Battle Bots competition at the end of the camp to prove their robot is the best.

DOVE CREEK DAY CAMP

The shores of Grapevine Lake can be your child’s next summer adventure at Dove Creek Day Camp! A fun-filled week of water sports, archery, gaga ball, kayaking, one session on the lake’s floating water park, WhoaZone and so much more!

OUTDOOR ADVENTURES

It’s time to get up, get out, and get going for a super summertime adventure. Teens can experience the great outdoors this summer at Outdoor Adventures! Grab all the best summer has to o er in just one week as you swim, float, paddle, and even take a highspeed tubing ride on Grapevine Lake. Test your speed, coordination, and stamina on the WhoaZone floating obstacle course. Land adventures include interactive activities like paintball, group games, hiking, and more!

MUSICAL THEATER CAMP, AGES 8-18

Our most popular camp is back in 2023! If you love to be onstage or have always wanted to know what it would be like to be in a full production, this is the camp for you! Students will prepare a full musical theater performance that will run in our theater at the conclusion of the camp. Campers 8- 12 years old will produce Madagascar Jr. and ages 13 and older will produce Urinetown. Students will spend half of their day rehearsing the production and half of their day in classes that cover acting, music, and dance.

Dates: June 5 – June 23 (Monday – Friday)

Location: The Vine Arts & Events Center Times: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm (one-hour lunch at 12:30 pm)

SUMMER WEEK-LONG THEATER CAMPS, AGES 3 – 5

Know someone who loves to perform? These fun-filled, week-long camps are just the thing they need! Every week of camp is a di erent theme, so sign up for one camp or all of them to make it last all summer long! Students will learn about the basics of acting, stage/screen presence, and collaboration through storytelling and art activities. Each camp encourages creativity and confidence.
