The Idea Knock knock refers to the graduating students knocking on the door of their respective industries. The international translations are there to communicate the college’s international outlook and represent how inclusive the college is.

Audience Key audience is people working in industry, whether this be a design studio owner or attracting press aimed at the creative industries.
Tone of Voice Inclusive and welcoming, this is through the use of many languages, this will make people who’s first language isn’t English feel welcome and thus more likely to attend.
The Message The college is an inclusive institution which has students that are ready to work in the creative industries.
Visual Language The visuals are kept simple and reduced, wanting the line of copy to be the focus rather than complicating the design with imagery. We decided to use Helvetica as the typeface to stay with the College’s brand guidelines.

Design We used the format used for the mailer to promote last years end of year show. This allowed us to use the format to reveal the multiple translations in a way that is visually interesting and engaging. Please refer to the example supplied to see the full design.
Content The front side of the mail-out will contain the ‘knock knock’ content, including the college’s location maps. The reverse side of the mailer is a question mark, this refers to the undiscovered talent that can be seen at the show.

Blenheim External Signage The idea for the external signage is for the boards with the date of the show to be seen at the busy traffic lights, leaving the alternative two boards to display the question mark graphic.
A0 Posters Two posters can be used to promote the show around the city centre, the first containing the show information, the second being the question mark. The graphic style and colours will connect the posters to the viewing public.
Vernon Street External Signage A sign with the details of the show will be placed near the entrance of the Vernon Street building. More promotional signage will be needed around the Vernon Street location to promote the end of year show.
A6 Invite The flyer to be placed in locations throughout the city centre is double-sided. The first side containing the logo, show information and ‘knock knock’ the reverse side features the logo and language translations.
Online Application The website graphic will be an animated GIF, with the translations appearing underneath the ‘knock knock’.

Creative Review - Full Page The full page advert will work over two pages, the first showing information about the show, the second containing the language translations.
Creative Review - 108mm x 68mm This advert will be reduced down, not featuring any language translations. The emptiness of the advert will be in contrast to the overly busy adverts seen in Creative Review, attracting extra attention through reduction.
Creative Review - 50mm x 68mm The smallest advert available is reduced down to the key elements, again, the simplicity of the advert will stand out when surrounding by busy, poorly designed adverts that appear in Creative Review.

Visual Wayfinding To fit with the international outlook of the outside college promotion we have designed pictographic symbols to prepresent the courses to feature in the End of Year Show. This will create a clarity in the wayfinding system which has been absent at previous End of Year Shows. It is our ultimate ambition for nobody to get lost or confused when navigating around the college.
Wayfinding symbols from left to right Graphic Design / Fashion / Millinery / Interior Design / Art & Design Interdisciplinery / Furniture / Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design / Creative Advertising / Visual Communication / Photography / Fine Art / Stairs / Toilets / Refreshments / Elevators
Visitor Hand-out There will be a hand-out available for visitors, this hand-out will contain the location of each course location.
Drink Ticket The refreshment symbol can be adapted to be used as the ticket used to gain access to the complimentary beverage. This will create a unity and togetherness between the wayfinding system and visitor experience that has been absent in previous years.

Signage System As mention on previous board, the wayfinding system will be visual led. Allowing for large, clear symbols to be placed around the college and the risk of visitors being lost or confused being greatly reduced.
Main Entrance Signage Seen at the top left of the page. The wayfinding panel will be located in the main entrance of the college. It will be large format, at least 1 metre wide. The content will be the same at the wayfinding hand-out, featuring the course symbols and their locations in the college. This system is clear, easy to understand and unified in it’s approach, reducing visitor confusion.
Supporting Signage This can be seen to the right of the main entrance signage. These signs will appear on each floor respectively and give clear, easy to understand directions to people who are unfamiliar with the college and it’s somewhat confusing layout.
Placement Signage will be placed in each stairway, on every corner of each floor and in the college lifts. Our ambition is for nobody to get lost at the show and for the overall experience of the college to be a positive one.
Usability In not using text in the internal signage we have created a signage system that is effective for people with reduced eyesight and people who may be less confident in reading.
To work in conjunction with the supporting signs, the symbols used in the wayfinding will be placed visibly about it’s respective End of Year Show location. This will leave no doubt in the visitors mind which show they are walking in to.
