Create one item that epitomises hip hop.
Through my research I understood that hip hop, like all music, is a form of self expression. It is a mindset that goes beyond DJing, B-Boying, graffiti or MCing. For this reason I want to give visitors to the exhibition an opportunity to express themselves and help create a piece of art within the exhibition. Essentially a blank canvas for people to add their thoughts, opinions or questions. What I am proposing is a typographic installation, each letter being 90cm high, and 90cm deep. The scale will be attention grabbing and the content generated by the exhibition’s attendants. This relates directly to the foundations of hip hop. Self expression. The typography is red, as red represents passion, anger and love.
