For Vista and PSP please place the files in the users folder 'documents / My PSP Files' textures. For Photo X1 and X2 The location of the textures can also be placed in corel_15 and other locations (such as the patterns folder corel_10) under Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X1 and X2
Modify location for textures The actual location of the files can be changed via the preferences palette
Install folder for other applications For Photo-Paint, c:\program files\corel\graphic...\PhotoPnt\brushtxr (or another location) For frames: please install in the related texture folders for your frame plugin (such as in the 'content' 'textures' folder of Photographic Edges ™ 6 For Photoshop, the textures location is irrelevant but if you wish to use them as displacement maps, please convert the files and then place the PSD versions in the displacement maps folder of Photoshop Ž
Serial number Please store any serial number (s) for reference and future updates or replacement CDs
Thumbnails The package comes with a gallery of thumbnails but you might prefer to create your own bigger and perhaps more informative gallery. Good tools for this is are PSP's own browser or Infranview or Adobe Bridge or Portfolio or PhotoImpact's browser or iPhoto. The galleries included in this package were created using Photoshop and contact sheet functionality.

Other products We also have a number of patterns sets as well as plug-ins for Photoshop 速 and Paint Shop Pro 速 that might be of interest.
Non-exclusive use of textures Please note that the images / textures are all royalty-free, the copyright still resides with Andrew Buckle. Also, the textures are non-exclusive so numerous people might use the same texture in an image or advertising project or as a background.
EPS files (not included with all sets) The set (collection only) also comes with a selection of EPS files. They are in EPS format 3. The EPS files are not seamless but they can be used as textures, if you wish. The EPS files can be loaded directly via the materials palette (if placed in the textures folder) or you can open them and rasterize the texture and then save them as a PSP texture and use via the materials palette. Opening the EPS vector files direct is memory intensive so it might be better to simply convert them to reasonable sized bitmaps and then use them as textures (depends on your PC) On opening the EPS files you will be asked for the dpi etc, they can be left at the default 72dpi if you wish, depends on their use. Same with the loading into the materials palette, you can set the import of the EPS files via the preference palette. You might find it easier to leave as the default.

Hints and tips Materials palette Use the textures via the materials palette in Paint Shop Pro 速 and use in bucket fills, etc or use the textures for backgrounds in presets shapes or text (after conversion)
The materials palette displays the gradient, pattern and color and an option for textures. Many different types of files can be displayed along with the more obvious texture bitmap files. The EPS supplied with the set (collection) can be used this way but you may wish to convert them into JPG or bitmap files and then add them to the textures folder as the vector formats are memory and resource intensive.
The texture is combined with the current color or gradient or pattern.
Bump maps / bubbles Use textures as bump maps in Paint Shop Pro 速 in 'balls and bubbles' plug-in. The texture can be used in the surface palette via the material, adding a pattern or gradient to the ball as well as a texture. The texture can also be used as a bump map (add the textures to the bump maps folder of PSP) by checking the bump map box. Smoothness and depth and size can be modified. This is via the map tab.
The environment can also be set to the texture. Add the textures to the environment maps folder or point the edit paths to the textures folder. Opacity can be modified.
End result of the bump map for a single ball / bubble
Swatches and textures The texture / pattern / color / gradient can be saved to the swatches palette by clicking the 'add to swatches'. The swatch can then be used during a later project.
Patterns and textures Interchange between patterns and textures in most applications
Preset shapes You can combine textures and preset shapes Select the preset shape and open the materials palette and set the fill to the required color, pattern or gradient and texture.
Brush grain & Paint Shop Pro 速 Use the textures as a brush grain in Paint Shop Pro 速 The texture used can be changed via the materials palette for the current brush
You may wish to scale and rotate the brush texture.
Text and textures Text can also be filled with a texture (and pattern / gradient / color) via the materials palette (PSP) Convert the text and then ungroup and then fill the individual letters with the required texture
Re-use textures Re-use the textures, overlay the textures, blur the designs and save as a new texture design
Texture plug-in in Paint Shop Pro 速 Use the texture designs in texture plug-in in Paint Shop Pro 速 The smoothness, depth, ambience, shininess, angle, elevation etc can all be altered along with the size of the texture to create many different textured designs. Apply to an image or use as background. Add the texture to a layer and then use different blending modes such as difference to add the texture (as well as applying a lower opacity).
Picture tubes and textures The textures can be used as a picture tube. Open the texture file, convert to 24-bit from the initial grayscale and then export as a picture tube. Save the cell settings as 1 x 1 or if you wish 4 x 4 etc for more abstract tube brush strokes. The tube can then be used via the picture tube tool and applied with differing steps and scaling settings to create interesting and unusual brush strokes as well as even odder texture designs.
Use in Photo-Paint ® You can use the textures in some of the tools such as the fill (texture fill). In particular, you can use the textures as brush textures. You access them via the brush tools and the brush settings and brush texture option (load texture by clicking texture folder). You can then set sustain, bleed etc of the texture.
Use in Xara ™ Add the bitmaps to the Xara X fills gallery and use in Xara X in shapes and paths.
Use in Frames plug-ins Please consult the Photographic Edges ™ (plug-in from Auto F/X ®) documentation (or Photoframe ™
documentation). The textures can be used in a variety of ways in the latest versions of the plug-ins. Generally the textures are loaded via the texture section of the plug-in but this varies from version to version. You may wish to convert the bitmap or EPS files to JPGs for use with the frame plug-ins
Use in Photoshop ® Please open the bitmap files in Photoshop ® and then edit->define pattern to load the pattern / texture bitmap into the patterns palette. Use the texture then as a brush texture or pattern overlay or bevel/texture. Convert to PSD and use as a displacement map. The displacement PSD files can then be placed in the displacement maps folder of Photoshop and then used in the displace and glass and filter gallery and canvas plug-ins.
3D and textures Use the bitmap textures in 3D applications as bump maps & textures
Textures and Painter ™ Painter ™ can open the bitmap files but you must then select the entire texture bitmap and then use the grains palette to define the grain and save to the current library. The grain can then be used in surface texture effects, glass distortions and more.
Textures and plug-ins. Use textures in various effects such as distortions & bump maps & canvas textures / third party plugins such as KPT tools (KPT gel is a good example of a plug-in that accepts bitmaps). The bitmaps can also be converted to JPG format and then used in plug-ins such as AutoF/X edges plug-in as a background.
