The Gardener’s Cottage was originally home to the estate gardener when the estate opened 1932. Quaint, distinctive and private, it’s ideal for wedding parties. The cottage sleeps 6-10 and consists of four premium guest rooms, private baths and a common parlor room—the perfect intimate gathering place.
The Bernard Cottage, the original temporary residence for the Gray’s during the construction of the manor house is the ideal space for the bride or grooms entire family. The cottage sleeps 12-16 and hosts 9 guest rooms including the Benjamin Bernard Suite.

Wedding Ceremony Fee
Saturday Evening Wedding Reception Minimum Requirements
The wedding ceremony fee includes the use of space, white folding chairs, and tables for the guestbook and gifts. Brides are also entitled to have their portrait taken in the Manor House or on the grounds of Graylyn. Space for your rehearsal and dressing rooms will be provided, subject to availability.
Graylyn asks for a food & beverage minimum expenditure of 13,000.00 for events held in the Living Room Wing. For events taking place in the Living Room Wing and the Dining Room Wing, the food & beverage minimum expenditure is 20,000.00. Minimum requirements do not apply to wedding events held Sunday through Friday or daytime Saturday. All food and beverage items must be provided by The Graylyn Estate, with the exception of your wedding cake.

Reception Info
Brunch service concludes by 1:00 pm., lunch service by 3:00 pm., and light hors d’oeuvre service by 4:00 pm. There is a cake-cutting fee of 2.00 per guest. Fresh house flowers and two votive candles per banquet table may also be provided; however, specific flowers cannot be guaranteed. There is a two hour maximum time limit on food service for buffet and hors d’oeuvre receptions. Food and beverage may not be removed from the property. All food and beverage is subject to 6.75% NC sales tax and 20% gratuity.

Graylyn is a beautiful former private residence, and the perfect space for your event depends on your guest count and set-up needs. Suggested spaces and their rental fees for a Saturday evening event are as follows. Please ask about our event space rental for events held Sunday through Friday or daytime Saturday. Frequently Asked Questions Once I have decided to have my wedding at Graylyn, how can I secure a date? After you have made the decision to host your wedding events at Graylyn, please notify the Special Events Account Manager of the number of guests you will guarantee and your space requirements.Your selected date will be reserved for IO days, pending receipt of your signed contract and a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the estimated food and beverage cost (excluding tax and gratuity). Please note that we are not able to hold a date without a signed contract. When will my payments be due? Within 10 days of your receipt of the contract, it must be signed and returned to Graylyn along with a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the estimated food and beverage cost, excluding tax and gratuity. Approximately two weeks before your event, you will receive an estimate of all charges that are due. Final estimated payment must be received no later than 10 days prior to the event. Graylyn must receive your estimated payment before the event can begin, In the event that you have overpaid, Graylyn will issue you a refund, If there are additional charges, you will receive an invoice to be due 10 days after the event or upon receipt of the invoice. Will I need to hire a wedding planner? Graylyn strongly recommends that you utilize the services of a professional wedding director; however, it is not mandated. Our Special Events Coordinator will work with you to select your menus, plan the setup of your event space, and organize all venuerelated details. A wedding director will assist you in the coordination of your ceremony, oversee your other vendors, and provide guidance on weddingrelated events not associated with services provided by Graylyn.
Am I allowed to select my own vendors? Although you may secure your own vendors, it is highly recommended that you seek the services of Graylyn's preferred vendors as they have been recognized for superior customer service and likeminded in the goal of keeping the wedding couple's best interest at heart. Can I provide my own rental items, such as carefully selected china, tables, chairs, and linens? Yes, you absolutely can provide your own rental items.Your Graylyn coordinator can familiarize you with specialty equipment and decorative items, such as china, linens, tables, and chairs, as well as secure these items for you. However, you can also work directly with the vendor if you would prefer. Graylyn's preferred Vendor Collection has several partners who are familiar with Graylyn policies and would be delighted to work with you. If you should choose to work directly with the vendor, we do ask that you notify your Graylyn coordinator of the logistics surrounding these items, such as delivery, setup, storage, and pick-up in advance, Can I have a tent for my event at Graylyn? Often tenting a space is an excellent weather backup plan for an outdoor ceremony or reception. A tent may be also a great solution to gain additional space or afford the opportunity for a unique design. If you are considering a tent option, please notify your Graylyn coordinator right away. We will then assess feasibility for the specific location and type of tent needed. Should you then choose to include a tent in your space, it is then required that your Graylyn coordinator secure the tent, permits, and inspection required. Securing a tent directly is not permitted.

Frequently Asked Questions When do I have a food tasting? While an optional component, Graylyn recommends a menu tasting no later than one month prior to your wedding day, should you choose to include this in your planning process. During the initial planning meeting with your Graylyn coordinator, we encourage you to share your food and beverage vision. Should you desire a custom menu, menu item, or specialty beverage, Graylyn's executive chef and beverage manager will be invited to participate, offering their appropriate expertise. Once your menu has been determined, a tasting will be arranged to ensure the menu meets your vision. Do you offer seasonal discounts? Discounted rental and minimums may be available during select months and days. Please inquire with your Account Manager if you would like to learn more. May I have my bridal portrait taken at Graylyn prior to my wedding day? Brides having a wedding event at Graylyn are given the exclusive option to schedule a photography session at the estate with the photographer of your choice. The estate and its grounds make a breathtaking backdrop for your engagement photos or bridal portrait. Please consult with your Graylyn coordinator prior to finalizing a date with your photographer in order to ensure availability.
How do I arrange overnight accommodations for my guests? Graylyn's 85 uniquely decorated, exquisite guest rooms and suites will make your guests feel like royalty. If you would like to guarantee accommodations for your guests, we recommend discussing a room block agreement. A room block agreement will guarantee an agreed-upon number of rooms for specific dates.You can then choose to either have your guests make reservations individually into this block of rooms or submit a rooming list to your Graylyn coordinator. Will there be another wedding at the same time as mine? Graylyn is committed to hosting only one wedding to ensure that you receive our full, focused service and attention. It is possible that there may be a wedding event in the morning and another event in the evening. On these occasions, we ensure that there is a minimum of two hours between events. This will allow your vendors ample time for set up.
What parking options are available to my guests? Graylyn offers self-parking in the rear of the Manor House. Should you desire valet parking during your event, Graylyn offers valet attendants at a per-hour, per-attendant fee.
