I like communicating with friends and participating in various cultural events since I see them as a good way to get acquainted with new people as well as develop my social skills. SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE
FIRST SEMESTER The main idea of the first semester project was to introduce us to the concept of rules and demands, when coming to design technology and construction planning. This was the first project that I have done, and the first time I got in touch with the architectural concept. The project consisted in designing a single family house which was suitable for family with two children, using a maximum space of 150 m2. The approach on the project included having a simple design that can be integrated in the surroundings. Near the neighborhood there is a lake, which was also a main focus point taken into consideration when positioning the house on the plot. Layout of the rooms follows Danish design, meaning that the kitchen, dining and living area are integrated into one big opened space.

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS
MULTI-PURPOSE HALL
THIRD SEMESTER The Horsens Municipality predicts that the population of the city will grow with 20% by the year 2020. Therefor it was requested a project that consists in the development of an attractive urban area in North of Horsens. Bygholm Lake and hopes that the future building designs will be both sustainable and green. It is planned that the area will contain approximate 70.000 m2 of light commercial building. The client “Greenline’s architects” had the request for a multi-purpose hall with an area of 1943 m2, being designed as a heavy construction using prefabricated concrete elements, while the cafeteria with a 642 m2, should have a lightweight construction made of wood elements. During this semester we were introduced to two new phases such as production factory work and execution process.

FOURTH SEMESTER Multi-storey residental housing was one of the main semester projects. We were supposed to design a construction for developing an urban plot, close to the center of Horsens Municipality. The residential units consists of 22 apartments and one commercial space on the ground floor. The four storey building is required to have a basement with a very good functionality and a storage room for the commercial area. The client requested as well to have a recreation area in the backyard with benches and a playground. In the processs of designing the site plan, it was included as well parking spaces and bicycle sheds.

FIFTH SEMESTER Fifth semester offered me to try many new things as I was on Erasmus in Aalst, Belgium at Odisse University. It was very pleasant experience as I had many opportunities to expand my knowledge about constrution in practise and theory. I have spent 5 months in Belgium during it, had chance to have classes like practise performance, Quantities calculation (price performance), drawing, building site visits, and final report about renovation project.

PRACTICAL PLACEMENT - PRISON PROJECT
SIXTH SEMESTER During sixth semester I had my internship at construction/engineering company in Riga, Latvia REM PRO. My internship lasted for 21 week during which I had opportunities to improve knowledge and skills as well as to gain new ones, such as working with AutoCAD, blueprint reading. importance of different building processes. I was evaluated as : - Hard working and responsible person - willing to understand and participate in the process of design. - Reliable worker - solves the tasks responsibly, can trust that accomplished tasks are done correct. - Nice personality. - Works quickly, immediately asks if there are some unclear matters, informs if there are some problems. - Fast learned necessary AutoCAD skills, improved understanding of 2D drawings.
“WIND MEADOWS” PRESCHOOL, DAY-CARE CENTER
SEVENTH SEMESTER The last - seventh semester is the final semester which consist of dissertation and final project. For dissertation report I chose to write about “Sustainable Zero Energy Buildings” with a focus view on topic “Pushing single family house to the absolute zero” is also chosen wanting to look deeper in Sustainable Zero Energy Buildings’ designing process, aspects construction field professionals have to cover. Final project I have been working with is “Wind Meadows” preschool, day-care center. Health, recovery, rehabilitation and relaxation centre complex which consists of 55 630 m2 large plot, located in Marupe. According to, the detailed plan developed in 2007, the land intended to split up into three separate land units. Idea is to provide four-free standing volumes diverted from the street to the plot borders on the north side. The building I was working (Preschoold, day-care center) is designed to preserve the unity of the complex, at the same time provide kindergartens discreet environment. Most of the group floor and first floor space devoted to children’s needs : group rooms for children with separate sleeping rooms, changing rooms and toilets.

Perimeter drain A branch drain, connecting the capillary breaking layer to the perimeter drain, must be established below demestic ground floors. The branch drain service the discharge of water from capilary breaking layer. At least two branch drains must be astablished per building. If the capillary breaking layer is divided into sections by foundations of internal walls, a branch drain must be established for each section. Drainage pipe in the centre of the gravel filter, the pipe itself is perforated (not shown on the drawing), enabling water to enter and be led away.

- The foundation foot and wall has to be water externally. It has been soved by : 1. Using a perimeter drain which discharges water from capillary breaking layer. 2. Concrete painted with liquid bitumen, around 90 deg corners there might be need to burn bitument sheets.
Moisture and durability is in reference to SBi 216 Chapter 4 and SBi 178 (moisture and proofing buildings) 4.6(1) Buildings must be built so as to prevent water, moisture and damp from causing damage or undermining sercive ability, impairing durability and citiating health and safety conditions.

- To solve the heat loss through cold bridges have placed 300mm and 100mm Polystyrene insulation, this also helps to to bring the U-value down for these components. Under ground concrete slab is placed insulation of 300 mm Polystyrene. - A radon barrier has been placed over the foundation and sealed to the inner sides of the foundation.

- For structural horizontal movements of the concrete ground slab, 70 mm of insulation have been placed on the edge. This prevents from cracking and component damage.

- Floors and walls must be constructed so as to resist the moisture and mechanical and chemical effects that normally occur in wet rooms. Choosen floor construction - MK-approved tile systems with a membrane perfectly fits with concrete cast in-situ slab to achieve needed demands. Choosen wall construction - MK-approved tile system with a membrane and PVC-membrane. Air tightness is achieved by use of a board cladding sealed against the walls using an elastic sealing compound. - Floors and flooring, including joints, connections, pipe penetration etc. must be watertight. To solve this DPM membrane is used in each type of flooring. As well in wet room floor construction additional layer og 70 mm concrete cast in-situ is placed. As well, elastic sealant is placed about waste water pipe on both sides.

Building materials with the lowest possible emissions of pollutants should always be used. 6.2 Thermal indoor climate 6.2(1) Buildings must be constructed such that, under their intended operational conditions and at levels appropriate for the human activities to be carried out in them, comfortable, healthy temperatures can be maintained in the rooms occupied by any number of people for an extended period. (6.2(1)) Thermal indoor climate is determined by the temperature of the air and surfaces, the air velocity and turbulence intensity and, to a lesser extent, by the humidity of the air; and the level of thermal comfort can be determined in the context of the human activity and clothing. 6.3 Air quality 6.3.1.1 General 6.3.1.1(1) Buildings must be ventilated. Ventilation systems must be designed, built, operated and maintained such that they achieve no less than the intended performance while they are in use. Dwellings are normally deemed to be in use round the clock. 6.3.1.1(2) Fresh air must be provided through openings directly to the external air or by ventilation installations with forced air supply. The openings should be able to filter incoming air as appropriate and should be located such that incoming air is as unpolluted as possible. Ventilation openings directly to the external air should be made and should operate such that users are encouraged to use the openings as intended and to employ the options for adjusting the quantity and distribution of the intake fresh air correctly. 6.3.1.1(3) The supply and removal of air must ensure that draughts do not arise during the heating season in rooms which are occupied by any number of people for extended periods.
Occupiable rooms in childcare institutions must be ventilated by ventilation disarticulations comprising both forced air supply and exhaust and heat recovery. The ventilation must ensure a good, healthy indoor climate. This applies, for example, to childcare institutions such as day nurseries, pre-schools, school day care centers and other after-school facilities, day centers and other institutions with similar purposes. Fresh air supply and extraction must be no less than 3 l/s/child and no less than 5 l/s/adult plus 0.35 l/s/m2 floor area. At the same time, it must be ensured that the CO2 content of the indoor air does not exceed 0.1 % for extended periods. If a ventilation system with demand-controlled ventilation is used, the specified air volumes may be deviated from when there is reduced demand. Ventilation during the hours of use may, however, not be less than 0.35 l/s per m2 floor area. (BR10 - Chapter 6.3.1.3) Teaching rooms in schools etc. must be ventilated by ventilation installations comprising both forced air supply and exhaust and heat recovery. Fresh air supply to and extraction from normal teaching rooms must be no less than 5 l/person plus 0.35 l/s/m2 floor area. At the same time, the CO2 content in the indoor air must not exceed 0.1 % for extended periods. If a ventilation system with demand-controlled ventilation is used, the specified air volumes may be deviated from when there is reduced demand. The ventilation during the hours of use may, however, not be less than 0.35 l/s per m2 floor area. (BR10 - Chapter 6.3.1.3(2)) Transfer if air from one room to another must not be from a more to a less air-polluted room. In dwellings, the rooms with higher air pollution will, for example, be kitchens, bathrooms, rooms containing sanitary conveniences and utility rooms. In industrial buildings, air should not be reticulated form areas in which process - derived pollution is present in the air. (BR10 - Chapter 6.3.1.1(4))
The wall facing the wind transfers the load to the lower ceiling, upper ceiling and also to partitions in the same storey. In this case facade walls and some partition walls will have shear function (SHF) - the ability to transfer loads parallel to or exactly in a longitudinal plane, but gable walls - slab function(SF) - the ability to transfer loads perpendicular on a plane surface. Shear function characteristics : a)The load is applied in the plane of symmetry of the structural member. b)Action and reaction lines are parallel but not positioned in the same axis. c) The load will cause shear stress. d) The load will not cause any deflection perpendicular to the wall -plane. Slab function characteristics : a) The load is applied perpenducural to the plane of the tructural member. b) The load causes bending stress and shear stress in the structural member. c) The load will cause deflection.
