rgeff,

Dan Binkley:

About TheBANK of Edwardsville’s Commercial Banking Group At the time I was just starting out my business, and Bill Alexander and TheBANK really worked with me and showed a genuine interest in my success. As my business has grown throughout the years, TheBANK has helped me out every step of the way. I’m so appreciative of how creative the people at TheBANK have been in helping me build my business. To be honest, the Commercial Banking Group, with Donise Georgeff and the rest of them, has made my life easier in the complex world we do business in today. What I really look for in my banker is a person who can solve problems, and the people at TheBANK have been doing that for me for 20 years. Every bank has to be competitive and offer quality products to survive. To really thrive, however, it’s all about relationships. Building a strong relationship is what it takes to get a business owner like me in the door. It’s the little things – the personal touches – that make TheBANK great, like when the person in the drive-thru window knows your name. That’s why I’ve been with TheBANK all these years …. It’s been a long-term relationship that’s not only been satisfying professionally, but leaves me with a friendly feeling every time I do business there.

The Governor French Academy The Governor French Academy, Inc. is completing its thirtieth year as the Metro-East’s college preparatory school. Serving grades K through 12, the Academy focuses exclusively on two things: developing the skills to get into college and developing the skills to stay in college. Recognizing that standardized test scores are a major part of getting into college, Governor French practices test preparation. Consequently our 2014 ACT average is 26 for our Upper School students, and our Lower School students are averaging 96% on their IOWA Basic Skills Tests. But, getting into college is only a part of a student’s challenge. He or she has to do well once he or she is there. That’s why every Governor French Upper School student is on one athletic team, is in one play, does a science fair research project, completes numerous term papers, and attends a college-style lecture class.

Chamber Member Update PRODUCTION TEAM OF "BELLEVILLE" ANNOUNCE NEW CHRISTMAS MOVIE "EXPECT DELAYS" Ted Trent Studios and Circa87 will hold auditions at the Lincoln Theater in Belleville, Illinois on 4.25.14 & 4.26.14 This isn't the first time Ted Trent (also known as Ted Trentman) brought national camera crews to his hometown of Belleville, Illinois for a Christmas shoot. "I wanted to bring movie industry excitement from Los Angeles back to where it all started for me -- my home of Belleville," Trent explains. "The first time it happened was in 2006 with the USA Network following me home in a reality showstyle TV movie called 'The Great American Christmas.'" Eight years later, Trent is starring in "Expect Delays" - a fictional movie about those interesting family dynamics that come into play around the holidays. "I'm so thrilled to be following up the premiere of 'Belleville,' the week of April 22, with another two week film shoot," says writer/director Dan Steadman. "I was so inspired by the artistic talent in the Southern Illinois and St. Louis area I wanted to write larger roles for many of the actors from 'Belleville.' But there are still smaller parts -- acting and musical roles -- up for grabs. That is why we will be auditioning." The Lincoln Theatre at 103 E. Main Street (home of of the "Belleville" premiere) will host the auditions on both Friday, April 25 and Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. For more details on how to prepare for the open call visit BellevilleTheMovie.com or ExpectDelaysMovie.com. BUILT IN BUSINESS ADVERTISING Local companies (products and stores) can also take advantage of being forever featured in a nationally-released Christmas movie by having their products placed in the film or by having an actual scene shot inside their business establishment. There are also opportunities to "sponsor a local actor" and partner with "Expect Delays" on marketing a business within the film. For more details, email publicist Ethan McDaniels at ethan@mediarelationships.com. Chamber Member Update HIGH SCHOOL SCULPTURE IN THE CITY PROGRAM BRINGS TOGETHER BELLEVILLE STUDENTS AND ARTIST MARINA LEE TO CREATE ORIGINAL WORK OF ART FOR THE CITY

Art on the Square, in collaboration with the law firm Mathis, Marifian & Richter, Ltd., (MM&R) this month kicked-off the fourth annual High School Sculpture in the City Program at Governor French Academy in downtown Belleville. The interactive and creative arts program, sponsored exclusively by MM&R since its inception, is this year engaging artist Marina Lee from Milwaukee, Wis., and students from Governor French Academy in a collaborative art project in which they will design one-of-a-kind art sculptures that will be permanently installed at the school. In 2010, Art on the Square created the High School Sculpture in the City Program in collaboration with MM&R as a way to bring students and artists together to enhance art education in the community. To date, the program has been at Belleville West High School, Belleville East High School and Althoff Catholic High School. Each school now proudly exhibits a unique art piece on their campuses as a result of the program. Dede Farquhar with Art on the Square said, “We love what this program offers to the students in the community in terms of educational value, experience and fun. The depth of experience the students gain from being involved in the High School Sculpture in the City Program is invaluable and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of the artist, schools and Mathis, Marifian & Richter, who provide the financial support to make the program possible.” Lee spent three days last week working with a core “design team” made up of approximately 10 students in grades six through 12. She also involved the younger grade students too so that the entire school can participate in the creative process and benefit from the experience. Lee and the students are working on two separate art sculptures, but they are keeping the design details under wraps until the sculptures are unveiled at a VIP reception to be held the opening night of Art on the Square. Phillip Paeltz, headmaster of Governor French Academy, said, “We are extremely pleased to have been selected to participate in this year’s High School Sculpture in the City Program. What our students’ gain, both creatively and academically, from working with an experienced artist is invaluable.” MM&R has supported Art on the Square since its inception in 2002, and it is a committed supporter of local artists through various community outreach programs. More information about Art on the Square’s High School Sculpture in the City Program is available at www.artonthesquare.com. Area residents can also follow the progress of the program on Facebook at High School Sculpture in the City Program.
