MEMBER UPDATES Tom Egan’s Edward Jones Branch Team expands to add Financial Advisor Kim Siegel Edward Jones is committed to increasing flexibility and choice in how branch teams build and operate their practices. We are evolving, learning together, and considering the experiences that clients and branch teams say they want as we build on our tremendous past and evolve into the future. Along with being a Financial Advisor to many local families and companies, Tom also serves as a General Partner of the firm and Area Leader of the St. Louis region. Part of the responsibilities of these roles require him to be at Edward Jones Home Office and leading others for a significant portion of his time. To continue to deeply serve all clients, Tom has chosen Financial Advisor Kim Siegel to join his branch team. Kim will be working alongside Tom and the rest of the branch team, Ellen Keen, Janet Frederking & Becca Thurber. While Kim may be a new face to Edward Jones, she isn’t new to the financial services industry. After graduating cum laude from the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign in 2001, Kim started her career in financial services in Chicago in fixed income institutional sales. Family brought her back to the St. Louis Metro East area 4 years later. She continued her career in the same role with two different firms over the next 16 years. After 20 years servicing institutional customers, Kim felt pulled to focus on the financial needs of individuals, their families, and small businesses in the community. Kim lives in Columbia, Illinois with her two sons. As a divorced single parent, Kim considers herself lucky to be a part of a strong blended family where they focus on lifting each other up and becoming better people, both parents and children together. Her work history in a male dominated field and the experience of her divorce and life as a single parent solidified her passion to be a women’s advocate and help them develop financial stability. Tom and Kim value the opportunity to use their life experiences and their advisory practice to serve the community by making the wealth building process engaging and exciting. While they may deal in numbers, researching investments and developing financial strategies, what they’re really passionate about is people: working with their clients to help them achieve their long-term financial goals.

MEMBER UPDATES Holland Construction Services Building New Senior Living Development Holland Construction Services has begun construction on Keystone Place at Magnolia Commons, a new senior living community in Glen Carbon, Illinois. This 180,000 square-foot project will be located at 245 Magnolia Avenue, just off Illinois Route 157 in an area known for its medical, senior living, and professional service facilities. In discussing the beginning of construction for Keystone Place at Magnolia Commons, Brent Kingen, Chief Operating Officer for Keystone Senior Management Services stated, “We are excited to offer a new rental housing option for adults seeking a safe, secure, maintenance-free, service-rich lifestyle. Keystone Place at Magnolia Commons’ ultrainclusive service package will provide meals, housekeeping, transportation, and life enrichment opportunities that will allow residents to engage, explore and maximize their personal wellness.” Additionally, Kingen indicated that as a Rental Continuing Care Senior Living Community, Keystone Place at Magnolia Commons will provide independent living, assisted living and memory care apartments, accommodations and services. The four-story building will feature 79 independent living units, 43 assisted care units and 20 memory care units. Amenities will include a full kitchen and dining room, movie theater, salon, bistro and fitness center. The development is the second Keystone Senior Living facility Holland has built. Last year, Holland completed Keystone Place at Richland Creek in O’Fallon, Illinois. “Having the past experience of building a facility like this, which includes three different types of care levels, is very helpful on this project,” said Holland Senior Project Manager Tim Simon. “It’s an advantage because we understand the ‘why’ for why the client designed things a certain way. We understand their goals from a residential amenities standpoint and we’re able to ensure the building will provide a quality living environment for each resident, regardless of their needs.” The architect on this project is Gori and Associates, based Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The project is expected to be completed in Spring 2023.

Becker’s Healthcare names HSHS one of top 150 places to work Becker’s Healthcare recently released the “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare | 2022” list, which highlights hospitals, health systems and healthcare companies that promote diversity within the workforce, employee engagement and professional growth. This year, Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) was among the esteemed honorees for going above and beyond to foster a great workplace culture, benefits and colleague satisfaction. “Being part of a system like HSHS allows colleagues to receive the benefits of career opportunities through numerous educational programs. This, combined with wellness resources and benefits, is what makes HSHS a great place to work,” said Brandon Fish, interim president and chief executive officer at HSHS Elizabeth’s Hospital. “We are proud to be part of an exceptional system that values those who work here and cares for them like family.” “Working for HSHS means being part of a positive culture that focuses on the wellbeing of our patients, but also encourages the wellbeing of our physicians, providers and colleagues,” says Melinda Clark, president and chief executive officer of HSHS Medical Group and Prairie Cardiovascular, the Illinois physician groups of HSHS. “Our core values of Respect, Care, Competence and Joy influence every interaction within the HSHS family. Caring for one another empowers and energizes our colleagues as they care for patients.” HSHS offers opportunities to build successful careers above and beyond the average healthcare provider or company; HSHS encourages professional development and promotes leadership from within. HSHS also offers unique wellness and personal benefits to ensure colleagues strike a positive work/life balance as well as colleague recognition programs to highlight their accomplishments. Nominated by a patient, Brian was described as above and beyond outstanding and the epitome of the term nurse. “He had the best bedside manner and sense of humor and was able to put a smile on my miserable face.” The patient described Brian as calm and tuned into her needs. “I just started my nursing career and I can only hope to be as good of nurse for my patients as he was for me that day,” the patient added. “I was a little medicated and am extremely regretful that I can only remember that his name is Brian and that he didn’t know how to put in a ponytail. My hair was in my face and I asked him if he could put a ponytail in for me. He didn’t know how but promised me he would go home and practice on his wife.”

Bonnie Barnes, FAAN, CEO and co-founder of The DAISY Foundation said, “When Patrick was critically ill, our family experienced first-hand the remarkable skill and care nurses provide patients every day and night. Yet these unsung heroes are seldom recognized for the super-human work they do. The kind of work the nurses at Memorial are called on to do every day epitomizes the purpose of The DAISY Award.”
