Thank you to all members of the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce for believing in Greater Beverly and for expressing your belief by building your business in our community. This is an exciting time for the City of Beverly, a time that holds great promise. We who know and love Beverly recognize the promise. People who come to Beverly often grow roots of their own. People who are raised in Beverly – like me - often choose to stay or to find our way back eventually. Many things make Beverly the special city it is – our coastline, our beautiful parks and open spaces, the sense of place in our neighborhoods, our vibrant local economy and strong educational system. And most of all our people and our sense of community that bind us together when it matters most. When talented, committed people come to the table in good faith, understanding the ground rules, a dynamic public process will lead to outcomes that make Beverly a better place to live, to work, to raise a family, and to make a life. Beverly is filled with these talented and committed people – we see them all around us in you - our residents, our businesses, our non-profits, and in our students. So I invite you to the table – and look forward to partnering with you. In the coming months my administration together with our other elected officials will move quickly. We will: • W ork to open our waterfront to allow for restaurants, shops, a harbor walkway, and other public amenities. • Create meaningful and appropriate new economic growth in our downtown and throughout the Brimbal Ave/Rte. 128 corridor. • Engage our business and non-profit communities, identify and implement key initiatives that will strengthen our city. I believe strongly that we will shape an incredibly bright future for Beverly by doing it together. Please share your talents generously with our city. This year's Membership Directory and Resource Guide is the first edition published since expanding Doreen L. Lucido from the Beverly Chamber of Commerce to the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce. The Greater Beverly Chamber offers many educational forums and social events throughout the year. They are designed to promote the ongoing success of our members, their businesses and the Greater Beverly Communities. If you aren't a member, please join us; if you are a member, please become active as a Committee Member, Board Member or Officer. We need your help and promise you'll have fun. Conducting business has always been challenging. For small businesses even more so, because without the capital and other resources of a large business the small enterprise has a smaller margin of error. We understand the full impact of the new United States Health Care System is unknown and may not be fully realized for several years. As information becomes available to us, we plan to disseminate it to our members through electronic communications, our newsletter "Currents" and seminars designed to keep our members fully educated as to how the changes to this huge component of our economy will affect their businesses.

Major Events Annual Golf Tournament

Annual Golf Tournament at the beautiful Beverly Golf and Tennis Club. This Best Ball Tournament is scheduled in June at noon and starts with a boxed lunch, then a shotgun start at 1:30. For only $125, you receive lunch, 18 holes of golf, a cart, a fabulous dinner, a live auction and great door prizes. Take a shot to win $1,000,000, and try to sink a hole in one to win a NEW Ford. Bankers also compete for the Bankers Cup. Over 120 golfers attend this event. Bankers Cup Winners – Salem Five Bank Team

Greater Beverly Business Showcase

Business expo and networking event to be held on Thursday evening, May 15th, at the North Shore Music Theatre. The event will begin at 5pm with networking and cocktails in the Theatre lobby, along with a short presentation in the Theatre by NSMT owner Bill Hanney, previewing their upcoming 2014 season. After that short on-stage presentation, the event will move across the courtyard to the Theatre Arts and Education Building for the Greater Beverly Business Showcase, where we expect at least 50 businesses to exhibit their products or services until 8pm. This event will be promoted to hundreds of North Shore businesses, residents and North Shore Music Theatre patrons. Over 450 people attend this highly publisized event.

Each year the Greater Beverly Chamber of Commerce hosts the Business Awards at Danversport Yacht Club to celebrate the dedication and commitment of the business talent and the entrepreneurial spirit that exists within Beverly and surrounding communities. In addition to the business awards, the Greater Beverly Chamber also presents the Leslie S. Consumers who are told that a business is a chamber member are 51% more likely to be highly aware of it and 57% more likely to think positively of its local reputation. • Consumers are 63% more likely to buy goods and services in the future from a company that they believe is a member of the local chamber of commerce.

• Regarding the chamber’s impact on the local economy, 82% of respondents believe that the local chamber of commerce helps create jobs and promotes local economic development. The results of the Schapiro study are clear: Positive perception increases among consumers and business owners when a business is identified as a member of the local chamber of commerce.
