WELCOME

I’m delighted to welcome you all tonight to the famous Belfry Hotel & Resort, where we will celebrate the best of business across Royal Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth and Cannock Chase.

Tonight’s awards recognise businesses of every size, from entrepreneurs and leading young professionals to small and large organisations who make a tremendous impact in their industries and respective communities.

Every place within our Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce group is different. Each one has its own business demographic, culture and networks.

Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield, Tamworth and Cannock Chase are all steeped in heritage but also have ambitious futures and their own exciting agendas for development and regeneration.

There’s a real passion for championing these places – as we’ll see with our incredible award winners this evening and the support offered by the local business communities to their respective chosen charities, The Cancer Support Centre, Grace Cares and Newlife.

It is a testament to these business communities that a record number of applicants applied for this year’s awards.

This made an already unenviable task even more tricky for our judging panel, which was chaired by Asian Business Chamber of Commerce Director Anjum Khan.

Once again, we have an exciting programme in store this evening as we celebrate winners across three divisions of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce.

I hope you enjoy reconnecting with your network across the local civic and business community, as well as taking the opportunity to make new contacts.

A special thank you to our Chamber presidents Naeem Arif, Fiona Rouse and David Mitchell, along with their respective committees, for their hard work and advocacy.

And, of course, thank you to Charlie Elliott, Head of the Royal Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield & Tamworth Chambers, and Richard Brooks, Head of Cannock Chase Chamber, who work tirelessly to support our members across their respective divisions.

HAVE A GREAT EVENING.

COMMUNITY AND CELEBRATION

Tonight is about community and celebration, showcasing the superb businesses and individuals from Lichfield, Tamworth, and neighbouring divisions.

Thank you to Vice-Presidents Julie and Hannah, the Executive Team, outgoing Chris Brewerton, and our new Head of Division, Charlie Elliott, who shares my vision of community and growth. Thanks also to the GBCC team for their support, and both Lichfield and Tamworth Councils for sponsoring Future Faces memberships.

This year we had a bumper number of applications, so huge congratulations to the shortlisted candidates.

Our focus for the past year has been around business resilience, inclusivity, and our future workforce. We have hosted events on engaging employees from marginalised backgrounds, the benefits of working with the voluntary sector, and business resilience. We have continued to promote business engagement with schools and training partners to develop skills and improve aspirations.

For the next 12 months our focus will turn to business and community. This includes our internal communities of colleagues, where strong culture, leadership, and clear plans are essential for growth. Our local community, highlighting how our businesses give back – through charity days, careers expos, and volunteering –and actively engaging in discussions with local and central government to ensure our business needs are heard.

FIONA ROUSE

President, Lichfield & Tamworth Chamber of Commerce

Director, PI-KEM Ltd

We are also excited to be co-hosting our first International Trade Roadshow alongside the Global division of the Chamber.

Our new charity partner, Grace Cares, fits perfectly with this, combating loneliness in the elderly, reducing waste in social care, and promoting a circular economy around care equipment.

I am so proud of our members’ support for community initiatives and their own workforce. Local businesses are integral to Lichfield and Tamworth, and I will always be an ambassador for them.

CELEBRATING RESILIENCE AND PROGRESS

This year, we celebrate businesses’ resilience, determination, and progress across our region. While the business landscape continues to evolve, our commitment to members of the Chamber remains.

Over the past year, our events have transformed into vibrant hubs of activity, bringing together participants from various sectors and fostering meaningful connections that continue to enhance our collective regional impact. The Chamber’s voice has grown stronger; our identity is developing and drawing welldeserved attention to the innovation and opportunities within the Cannock Chase area. Thank you to Richard Brooks and those at the Chamber for their proactive and continuous support throughout the year.

As a Chamber, we remain dedicated to our core values: diversity, equality, inclusion, and key priorities in education, skills development, and employment retention. Sustainability also remains at the forefront as we continue to support businesses in aligning their growth with initiatives that safeguard our region’s future while respecting its outstanding natural beauty. Tonight, we recognise the achievements of those businesses and individuals who have worked tirelessly to excel. Congratulations to everyone who submitted award applications and those shortlisted.

Director, The Marketing People

Your dedication strengthens our community. To the winners – well done. Share this success with your teams and the wider network of supporters who made it possible.

I’m excited to build on this year’s progress as we look forward to the AGM in February. Together, we will continue to strive for the balance of formality and approachability while delivering real, lasting impact for our fellow members, businesses, and community.

PERSEVERE AND EMERGE STRONGER

The highlight of the year for me is always when we come together to celebrate the achievements of our local economy through the SLTC Awards. This year, we once again have an outstanding group of finalists to celebrate.

2024 has been a challenging year for many sectors, with rising costs making it increasingly difficult for businesses to turn a profit. Entrepreneurs have had to deploy all their skills and resources to navigate these tough times. However, as with all challenges, we will persevere and emerge stronger on the other side.

This is undoubtedly a time for collaboration and unity as we work towards our shared future. Royal Sutton Coldfield offers incredible opportunities in business, leisure, and tourism, and it’s heartening to see projects like the cinema reopening, breathing new life into our community.

As a committee, we remain committed to fostering opportunities for both business community engagement and the next generation. It’s crucial for members to stay connected with us and communicate their needs for support. We will continue to champion local businesses, which are integral parts of our community.

Now in my second year as President, I have cherished the responsibility and will soon be passing the baton to a new President at the AGM.

In closing, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for everyone’s support. Charlie and the Chamber team have been exceptional, and the committee has embraced their roles with enthusiasm. I wish you all a prosperous year ahead. Let’s continue to support one another as ambassadors for our region. Together, our collective efforts will drive success for both the region and its residents in the year to come.

Trained in Ghana, all of our African Acrobats are passionate about Bringing Traditional African Skills to the World.

We spent our early years on beaches around Accra, having fun, playing football and training with world class African acrobats and traditional artists who call Ghana their home.

But we don’t just do acrobatics. Our team are also experts in street dance, African drumming, traditional African dance, circus skills, fire eating and fire limbo and acrobatics. When combined into a performance or class, they provide a unique blend of African entertainment.
