THE PURPOSE OF THE ASIAN BUSINESS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE (ABCC) In order to support the ABCC members it is expected that the ABCC executive committee members will: • • • • • • •

Act as Ambassadors to the Chamber, its services and its events whilst supporting the Director and team at the ABCC Actively review and respond to policies and developments that affect its members Actively represent the interests and concerns of the membership Actively refer businesses as leads to the ABCC Link with local partners, stakeholders and key employers to achieve a cohesive business group Represent the aspirations of a diverse community

THE ROLE OF THE ABCC EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBER The ABCC is a membership organisation, supporting nearly 200 businesses ranging from sole traders through to large multinational organisations and from new start ups through to businesses established for 100+ years. Members of the Executive Committee are appointed for a 1-year period and can then decide to go forward for retirement or re-appointment. Executive Committee Members are expected to promote the services of ABCC wherever possible in their day-to-day business and to actively encourage membership. Members are expected to fully participate in the development and activities of the ABCC. Members may be asked to host events, facilitate networking events and provide leads to the membership team. Members may also be asked to represent the ABCC on appropriate committees, in line with their own skills and interests. The requirement for attendance at events and meetings is: • • • • •

Attend two out of three ABCC festivals per annum Attend one of the two Patron Dinners in the year Attend at least four out of six members social events Attend at least 50% of the EC meetings per annum Provide at least five membership leads to the ABCC that are ready to be converted

The Executive Committee meet 6 times a year in the evenings to review performance of the ABCC, address local business issues, receive reports from interested parties and stakeholders and engage in discussion about policy issues. The dates for the Executive meetings are posted a year in advance. Members will receive notification and reminders from the support office team and are kindly asked to acknowledge promptly their attendance or apologies. Upon commencing the role as an ABCC Executive Committee member, you will be invited to an induction meeting for a full and detailed introduction to the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce and Asian Business Chamber of Commerce
