Mayor’s message

Welcome to the July edition of Greater Dandenong Council News.

My fellow Councillors and I adopted the Council Plan 2021–25 (Revised 2023), Annual Plan 2023–24, Budget 2023–24 and Long-Term Financial Plan 2024–33 at the 26 June Council meeting.

Council is committed to improving the services and facilities we offer to our community and these documents outline Council’s long-term focus and key strategic activities for the next 12 months.

We are committed to making things better for our residents and enhancing vital services in the City of Greater Dandenong. You can read more on the following page.

Construction has also begun on the new $22 million Keysborough South Community Hub. This exciting community project has been developed in response to extensive community consultation. The following page details the design features of this new facility. Another Reuse and Recycle Drop Off is scheduled for 29 July at Greaves Reserve in Dandenong, read more about how you can declutter your home on page 6

My City

The old playground from Ross Reserve in Noble Park is now being put to great use by children in Sri Lanka.

Council continues to give new life to old playgrounds by partnering with Rotary to send play equipment overseas.

There is plenty to do in Greater Dandenong this winter. Make sure you visit Springvale Snow Fest on Sunday 30 July as real snow from Mt Buller will be on site as well as an artificial ice-skating rink. Spectacular fireworks will also light up the night sky, read more on page 11

The Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds (RORP) program disassembles playgrounds earmarked for replacement, and flatpacks them for shipping overseas. Rotary members do a thorough inspection of equipment to make sure it is still safe and usable by overseas communities.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land, the Bunurong People, and pay respect to their Elders past and present. We recognise and respect their continuing connections to climate, Culture, Country and waters.
