The Chairman’s Circle was founded in 2012 with the goal of moving the Chamber away from being dependent on government funding so that the organization could be an independent voice for business.


Chairman’s Circle Successes Since the inception of the Chairman’s Circle, the Chamber and our partners have brought more than 200 projects, 19,344 new jobs and $4.72 billion in new direct capital investment into the Greater Memphis region. The Chairman’s Circle has led initiatives to strengthen our region’s talent pipeline, encourage entrepreneurship and more, including: Economic Development Ecosystem Alignment

These focus areas include: Grow Existing Businesses : B2B Task Force The Chairman’s Circle is focused on supporting and propelling the growth of existing businesses through programs that promote inward investment, build relationships and provide skill building and leadership opportunities for employees.


Attract New Investment : Economic Development Task Force Our job attraction efforts are aimed at leveraging the region’s strengths in logistics and rich history of agricultural and life science innovation by strategically positioning our region as a place of choice for starting, scaling, growing or relocating these industries.

Build a Strong Talent Pipeline : Workforce Development Task Force The Chairman’s Circle provides vision and leadership to the Chamber’s Workforce & Talent team as they align and empower educational and training partners to ensure that our region delivers a strong talent pipeline.

Strengthen the Business Climate : Public Policy Task Force Tennessee boasts one of the country’s most attractive business climates. With no income tax and business- friendly policies, the state has seen a boom in economic investments and business relocations and expansions in recent years. To make sure Memphis benefits from those investments, the Chairman’s Circle is focused on a West Tennessee Strategy to build strong relationships with political leaders across the state and to convene local stakeholders to prioritize and advocate for necessary policy and investment for our region.
