MEET JARA THOMAS, JT INTERIORS
HOW DID YOU DISCOVER HOMESTEAD FURNITURE? When I started JT Interiors about five years ago, designers were really excited about what Homestead was becoming — their massive showroom, custom capabilities and location. To get the kind of service they provide, you’d usually have to travel to Columbus, Cleveland or Pittsburgh.
WHAT IS ONE OF HOMESTEAD’S MOST UNIQUE QUALITIES? Their attention to detail and the fact that they always find a way to make my customers’ visions come true. That’s difficult to find in a furniture store — most places don’t have those capabilities. Taking my clients to the showroom is an incredible experience. The possibilities are endless, and people get really excited about that. I couldn’t imagine not having Homestead as a resource.
WHAT IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE DESIGN TRENDS THAT HOMESTEAD HAS HELPED EXECUTE? Live-edge tables. They’re like pieces of art — each one is unique. I’ve done a few with my clients, from a mid-century modern style with a base forged out of steel to one with a champagne gold finish.
WHAT IS ONE WORD YOU WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE HOMESTEAD FURNITURE? Custom. Anything you can imagine, they can execute. Anybody can have a beautiful showroom, but what you see is what you get. At Homestead, their showroom is just the tip of the iceberg.
MEET MELINDA WIDNER, DAISY 11 DESIGN
HOW DID YOU DISCOVER HOMESTEAD?
I’ve known about Homestead for years, but I never had the opportunity to work with them until I started my own design firm in March 2022. During that time, I attended High Point Furniture Market in North Carolina with a goal of discovering unique and quality companies for my clients. While there, the Abner Henry showroom caught my eye, and I learned all about what Homestead had to offer interior designers and their clients
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO WORK WITH HOMESTEAD? Their reputation for high-quality furniture that is locally made. That’s important to my clients. They expect the best, and Homestead is a perfect fit. There is such a huge selection of materials, finishes, metals, wood species and ability to customize sizes and create different styles.
WHAT DID YOUR CLIENTS THINK OF THE EXPERIENCE? They love Homestead. They were very impressed with the showroom and enjoyed every step of the process. When I work with my clients, my goal is to create spaces that are unique. Homestead gives you a look that’s unlike anything you would find in a normal furniture store.
WHAT IS ONE WORD YOU WOULD USE TO DESCRIBE HOMESTEAD? Quality. Homestead’s Abner Henry collection really stands out to me. Normally, a piece with that kind of style and quality would have to be imported from overseas. It’s a relief to be able to turn to Homestead with special projects because I know they’re going to pay attention to detail and create a piece of furniture that my clients will appreciate for years to come.
