Irvine Inspired

part 9 : homes

A 10-part series celebrating the people and milestones in and around Great Park Neighborhoods as the community celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Homes: The Heart of the Community

Elizabeth Cipres’ Spanish-style home in Great Park Neighborhoods’ Beacon Park reflects her engaging personality: sunny and bright.

Ceilings soar. Spaces flow seamlessly from room to room. Abundant windows bathe her home with light, beckoning the natural world indoors.

In her backyard, a vibrant mix of blooms shoot sunward, sharing space with lush, ornamental shrubs that line the meandering walkways.

“I’m surrounded by greenery. I love that I can bring the outdoors inside,” says Cipres, whose hobbies include gardening and floral arranging.

Beacon Park was Great Park Neighborhoods’ newest neighborhood in 2016 when Cipres and a friend toured the models. An Irvine resident since 2006, she wasn’t looking to move from the home she purchased near her job at Irvine Valley College.

But once she set foot inside, she knew she’d found her dream home.

“I knew I’d be happy here, and I am,” she says.

Cipres fell in love with the design of a home that had everything she wanted: high ceilings, abundant windows providing natural light, extra storage space and a spacious great room for entertaining.

“I love that the great room flows into my kitchen, my living room and dining room, Cipres says. “I can actually use all the space instead of having a separate dining room and living room that I don’t fully utilize.”

Outdoors, Cipres has a beautiful yard to indulge her passion for nature.

She appreciates the wide array of home styles at Beacon

Park, with architectural styles ranging from Craftsman and Cape Cod to Mid-Century Modern and Santa Barbara. She chose a three-bedroom, single-story model that afforded her the casual, low-key living that, as a working professional, she longed for.

Throughout Great Park Neighborhoods, streetscapes were created that invite residents to walk, bike, explore, and get to know each other. Pools, parks, trails, greenhouses, and social events encourage residents to get outdoors and discover the unique elements found within each neighborhood.

“There’s a variety of clubs, so you don’t have to leave the neighborhood to exercise, to swim, or do some socializing,” Cipres says.

When fruits and vegetables are in season, Cipres and her neighbors visit the community’s two greenhouses, where they pick vegetables to add into salads and pluck guavas from the abundant fruit trees.

“It’s a nice amenity for someone who likes to cook,” she says, as she tears fresh basil into her salad. “If I need herbs, I’ll head over to the greenhouse to see what they have.”

Cipres added the community’s proximity to hospitals, shopping centers and transportation.

Recently retired, she has the choice to live anywhere, she says. But her roots are firmly planted in Great Park Neighborhoods.

“Whenever I have guests over, they are always so impressed with my community because everything is so new and well-maintained,” Cipres says. “This will always be my home base because it’s accessible, it’s convenient, and it’s safe. What more could I ask for?”
