BUSINESS OWNERS COMMITTED TO LOOKING OUT FOR THE SMOKIES

Lookout League partners help ensure elk herds continue to thrive in the Smokies. Elk vanished from the landscape in the late 19th century due to overhunting, but thanks to an ambitious reintroduction campaign launched in 2001, roaming herds can be seen once again in the Cataloochee and Oconaluftee areas of the park.

PARTNERSHIP IN ACTION

DEAR FUTURE LOOKOUT LEAGUE PARTNER ,

The preservation of Great Smoky Mountains National Park has been Smokies Life’s mission since 1953. We’ve given more than $50 million to the park over the past several decades with the goal of sustaining its history, natural resources, wildlife, and ultimately, the memorable experiences of those who visit.

Businesses in the gateway communities play an important role in the support of this natural resource. By becoming a Lookout League partner, your business helps to fund the educational, interpretive, and research programs sponsored by Smokies Life.

Your business will also receive a number of exclusive benefits designed to raise its visibility in the Smok ies community and connect with millions of park visitors every year.

Can we depend on your support of this remarkable national park?

Our full-color, high-quality journal reflects the culture and beauty of the Smokies. We feature the history, science, flora, and fauna of our region, profile local people and institutions, and showcase national park events and outdoor adventures.

Smokies Life Journal is delivered twice a year to all Smokies Life members—30,000 invested readers and growing rapidly. It is available at park visitor centers (welcoming three million visitors per year) as well as at bookstores, retail, and lodging establishments outside the park.

Smokies Life Journal connects locals, visitors, and communities to the park. Being a local business, we appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the magazine. The in-depth stories and accomplished photography provide an educational link to the park’s past and present. The more we learn about the park, the more we care.
